Most populist POTUS ever

Trump giving Teddy a run for his money.
Leftists will hate this because it’s a tax that can be levied on bullshit “assessments” on unrealized gains.
Let alone however much property can be seized by the state for delinquent taxes.
Someone could own their house/land outright after working for 30+ years to pay off their mortgage, meet some form of medical/financial hardship and lose their lifetime of work. Fuck that.

How much high end real estate in Idaho is owned by out of state residents? Frankly, I have no problem with property taxes if reasonable. In most states, the property is undervalued. There are easy answers to a full equity owned house other than foreclosure.
-
Yes, the answer to a full equity owned house is definitely easy: Fuck Off
-
That is the only answer the judges will accept.
-
It makes no sense to pay taxes on something you own.
-
A lot of the big money houses on the lake are from out of state. Seattle or L.A.. Seattle portion is larger. Those execs like to summer over here,
-
If you take property tax away, how will you fund local government?
Dumb
-
Sales and income tax with local consent.
Or maybe just quit spending so fucking much Costs of state and federal mandates are suffocating - cut those.
-
Tariffs used to be a main source of federal revenue....before they implemented income taxes and everything else unconstitutional they have burdened the people with.
They don't want you to know the gov can be profitable on it's own ..It's easier to just make up bullsh#t and steal from the people.
This country has been taken over by well educated thieves to fool you out of your wealth and you have been voting them in to office for over a century
-
-
Now do labor.
-
So just trading one tax for another ... what's the point?
-
Not trading one tax for another.
Eliminating subjective valuation and tax on unrealized “gains”
Also returning taxation to local jurisdiction to be determined by the consent of those taxed/governed for the purpose the governed deem a priorityIf the locality wishes to tax its occupants via levy, so be it. If they want to base it on income, ok. If they want to apply excise or sales tax based on consumption, that’s fine. But the method by which infrastructure and services are funded is not controlled by far off bureaucrats and politicians.
Cities would be allowed to compete on a level playing field. Spokane wouldn’t be shackled by Olympia’s fuckery and could align their two policy to compete against Boise, for example.Competition would ultimately drive down costs across the nation and globally.
Bottom up re-engineering of the state and federal tax suck. Fuck them both.
-
bicycle registrations should pay for bike lanes
I want to pay for parks, schools, police, and fire.
public transportation should be self sufficient.
It should not cost 140b to run this state annually. That is absurd.
-
Preach.
Cut all the free shit. Bus tickets for the homeless bums - one time offer to pay for the ticket home then the free shit stops.
Local funding of schools which could include vouchers. Competition.
-
Total state spending was 16.5B in 2005.
Bob Ferguson just signed the largest tax increase in history to fund 80b in expenditures in 2025.That is completely indefensible.
-
Why not just send the bums to California?
-
Things I get to "vote" for generally include parks, libraries, zoos, schools. Things that generally the population supports. Things I don't get to vote for are almost everything else. Portland Metro voted down a major MAX line extension years ago. The politicians then voted to build it anyway.
-
Look we all want parks, bridges, roads, police, schools, and fire trucks and we are willing to put up with the usual fraud and abuse between Olympia and contractors to have the infrastructure in place and maintained.
I can tell you what we don’t all want are gigantic add on projects like light rail that do not service the population as a whole because that is where the REAL grift happens. Why the fuck is someone in Wenatchee paying for a fucking train that runs from SeaTac to Redmond? What we don’t want is billions lit on fire to make homelessness, drug addiction and crime WORSE. What we don’t want are taxes going to initiatives that do NOTHING for the people whom the governors office targets in paying them.
We ran this state extremely well back in 2004ish for under 20b with a population of 6.1M
Twenty years later you’re telling me we need 4x that with 7.9M? Get the fuck out of here. There is no reasonable explanation for that.
Think of it this way. The total population of WA state is 7.9M and the state budget is 79B. That dollar spend per inhabitant is fucking outrageous.
-
Both Oregon and Washington in the last few years had a huge increase in "education" funding. Washington due to a Washington Supreme Court case and in Oregon a defacto sales tax passed dedicated to add billions to education funding which we were promised was going to be targeted and watched over by our elite education bureacracy. Results? Dropping test scores, money put in a pile and burned and now both states screaming about education budget deficits and that the kiddies are suffering. In Oregon full time equivalent spending per public school student is equivalent to the private school funding for the Catholic Jesuit High School is southwest Portland metro area. The cost for a teacher at Jesuit is slightly less than a public school teacher. But the private schools don't have the huge administrative costs of the public school system and have the ability to require discipline in the school system. It's not the lack of spending that is the question.
-
”Education funding”
Right. As public school enrollment shrinks. Jefferson high in Portland is getting a 750M “renovation” this summer.
Total enrollment is 780 kids(60% drop from twenty years ago) and the total incoming freshman class is less than100. If ever there was a project that demanded a full audit and investigation.
But it’s Multnomah County so that money gets spent like shit through goose.
-
Education and homeless funding is just code for money laundering. Fuck that
-
That's how it works. If you live in a state, you pay for things you may not use.
Single or married, childless people pay for public schools. Yes, there are mentally ill, idiotic woke teachers with 30 pride symbols in their classrooms, but that's a separate discussion.
-
but no one wants to pay for public transportation that is not safe to use.
Do you really think people would be as against this stuff if it was clean, safe, useful for many? Some would but not most.
-
It is not a separate discussion. Toss in the grifting administers who support the woke and mentally deficient teachers. You are not voting for education of the kids, you are voting for indoctrination and funding the negative education of our children. Let the money follow the child and get the kids out of public schools unless the parent thinks that is the better choice. If over half of the teacher's in a school district send their kids to private school, that's sort of a tell. Last dem president that sent their kid to public school was Carter. Almost all dem presidents or dem nominee for president from FDR and on were private school educated. Sort of another tell.
-
Why do you hate a Land Trust?
. -
That can be remedied, but woke politicians don't want to enforce fares or get the riff raff off buses.
-
Vanilla sucks
Public schools suck, but it's no different than roads, fire stations, parks, buses, police etc. It's a public good. Yes, muchh of it is broken, but privatizing everything is just a game for parasitic "capitalists."
-
I didn't say privatize everything. I said give the public a choice on education. Frankly, the wealthy have already privatized public safety with gated communities, private security and body guards.
-
I’m not advocating privatizing everything.
I am an anti-monopolistic capitalist who understands that there are public utilities and services that need to be funded through tax payer dollars.
The tax paying public should have the right to vote on a budget and it should be written in the state constitution that the budget be balanced to prior year revenues. This almost guarantees the avoidance of shortfalls.
We should have core services that are guaranteed funding.
- Public Schools K-12 Core Curriculum/Extra Curricular activities
- Community College 2 Year Associates or Skilled Labor Apprenticeship
- Police/Fire
- Subsidized Public Utliities
- Transportation infrastructure incl Port of Seattle, Roads, Bridges and a subsidized ferry system
- Public Parks
The following should be 100% usership funded:
- Bike lanes
- Stadium/Entertainment Venues
- Express/HOV Lane expansion
- Light Rail
One of the biggest drivers of spending is the growth in government employment itself. Inslee added 10,000 head counts to the rolls in his 10 years in office and big ticket items like DEI initiatives plus an army of part time legislators all earning 6 figures are huge contributors, to say nothing of the absolute black hole of homelessness and drug addiction “services” where the potential for fraud and abuse is through the roof and the results have been nothing but more homelessness and drug addiction. When you throw pigeon feed out, more pigeons seem to show up.
WA has a spending problem. It has a mission problem. It does NOT have a revenue problem and it’s time to get the budget committee and some accountants locked in a policy think tank where they are given a 40b budget and told to make it work.
Our current path is totally untenable and “taxing the rich” isn’t the answer. I guess they learned that to an extent because now it’s “let’s just tax the fuck out of everyone.” I hate these people with every fiber of my being.
-
You didn't, but it's been going on. Very insidious. The local bus system was affiliated with some Spanish company.
