You have 7.2 million Jews in Israel. The result is the only first tier democratic country/economy in the Middle East. It's them versus hundreds of millions of Arabs and Muslims. Actually beyond impressive. Every US president has vowed that Iran will not get the Bomb. Trump is the only one who wasn't lying about it. Iran with the aid of barry and the dementia patient gave over a hundred billion to Iran and Kerry admitted that some of it would go to fund terrorism which it did. (I have no idea if the dazzler's $300 billion to Israel is accurate.) If Iran wanted peace in the Middle East there would be peace. They want the Jews dead. The Jews don't want to die and this is what you get. Sort of a binary choice.

After Cheney and the Iraq fiasco, it's hard to imagine the Dems would be as bad at Middle Eastern policy. But they were/are.
And ironical, Iraq is now a stable key ally in the region, so that might've not been a COMPLETE waste of time money and lives.

It will be nice to add Tehran back on the tour for worldly poseur big dick swingers like me. It was one of the most fashion-forward places to visit, and despite @Bazey's distaste for the label is IS the old Persian empire. Those people were doing real shit while at least some of my ancestors were inventing clinical depression in their caves during long winters. Older people I know who did travel there back in the day have a similar view towards it that you get from people who saw Havana back in its prime.
You put the wrong people in charge of anything and they can and will fuck it up. Nobody is immune.

A career military friend of mine once answered my "who's the best at this and that?" question by saying, "whoever has been doing it the most." Practice. We're talking about practice. Israel has had a lot of practice. They know what they're doing.
Still, I have no sense of what the Iranian's are capable of, but I assume somebody does. I assume they have not been underestimated but I don't know.

The biggest issue for the US is Iranian sleeper cells in the US. With the previously open border we have had thousands of military age unvetted Muslims come into the US (along with thousands of chicom males). Lots of unprotected US infrastructure to mess with along with car bombs like OKC.
