For so many of our Gen X Doogs who were there that day
Assume it will be in the Wam for the Wam folks
It’s impossible to find two power-conference college football programs farther apart geographically than Miami and Washington.
They have faced each other only three times, but the Hurricanes and Huskies have a unique bond. Before they ever squared off, they split the 1991 national title, with 12-0 Miami crowned by the AP poll and 12-0 Washington getting the nod from the coaches poll.
Then, in 1994, Washington traveled to Miami as a 14-point underdog and snapped the Hurricanes’ NCAA-record 58-game home winning streak. The Huskies’ 38-20 win became known as “The Whammy in Miami.”
What no one could’ve imagined when No. 4 Miami visited No. 15 Washington in 2000 was the impact that game would have on both programs, particularly the Hurricanes, who were looking for revenge but maybe got something bigger from the showdown in Seattle.
Marques Tuiasosopo, Washington QB, 1997-2000: I don’t think either side liked sharing the national title. Then, they go to Miami and beat them and end their record home winning streak. From our side of things, we knew they still wanted to make amends for that, and they still had that chip on their shoulder from 1990. It was a big deal.

Oh it's so glorious
I remind Santana Moss about this game whenever I run in to him
I miss culture, and @Rapeculturedawg. I always loved when people started getting misty eyed about The U docs mentioning the 94 and 2000 wins. Miami as a power is much more fun and interesting than a program like Georgia or Clemson.
I was there. And conflicted.
Tyler…Krambrink.
HS was electric that day, one of my favorite games in person. The stadium ROARED and Miami never saw it coming!
That Saturday was a seminal moment for me. I had processed my Puff Daddy & The Family alt color Yankees hat and my atrocious skateboarding phase and football curious. The Montlake rumble won me that day and now I've forever been locked in as semi-autist Dwag fan.

The great thing about Gonzalez making the above quote was that prior to the actual game, he was quoted in the Miami Herald saying they weren't concerned about Husky Stadium, because they had already played at places like Virginia Tech and were fine.
There's a whole chapter about that game in my old book:
Friendly reminder I intentionally put this book on my bookshelf next to Silence of the Lambs because of your love for Jame Gumb.
Did you ever get past the first couple chapters of Fear No Man? I didn't.
I recall there being a quote from Butch Davis about Husky Stadium having a track around it so it couldn’t be that loud, and that quote being printed up and taped to every stadium entrance.
I think I did but I think I was on a flight or something. They should instead publish my ramblings about the program
I don't think I've ever even opened it.

NS upper deck said F You to the Canes that day, I was there, man
I know all the new fishes think Oregon 23 was lit(I was there too) but than Miami gayme was a bit louder, and Nebraska game was even more so. I think the OSU game has some potential this season and probably Oregon. HS can be a bitch for unexperienced QB’s
Maybe I'm being dense but I don't get the reference and/or joke
I've never had any desire to read it. I thought the title was dumb. I also thought in retrospect that "Dawgs of War" was a dumb title. But better than Fear No Man. But anyways, I've been there done that, so I didn't have any desire to read it.
