I understand it’s Husky Basketball and not much is expected but Sprinkle’s 1st season has been a DISASTER. Initially I kinda dooged listening to a preseason interview based on hope and wishful thinking. Admittedly didn’t watch a minute of ncaa basketball until the Elite 8 but I did follow the B1G standing and the occasional box score - LAST Place
Was catching up on the Seattle Times Husky sports info and as of Monday night we have Zoom returning and the former duck big man that’s often hurt remaining on the roster. 2 players plus a recruiting class. Thankfully I don’t really care and I was already teetering on throwing in the towel of college athletics and sports in general other than the occasional big game or event like the past Olympics.
Danny boy failed big time in year one. I have very little pride left for the University of Washington. Spring Football yawn

At this point, Sprinkle is Fire Hop until proven otherwise.
When your best win is Cuog in December at home that doesn’t scream rousing success.
His best win was Maryland.
Fair.
That's how memorable this season was.
I’m sure Bland has been working the phones for a few months. It may not be a top 20 portal class but I’ll wager the players they bring in next year won’t quit if their shots aren’t falling. That alone would be a major step towards the middle of the B10 and an NCAA spot.
UW does well with Germans
BB moving to the B1G was a bad idea. They need to move the BB team back to the MW or Pac. There's no future hope for UW BB in the B1G.
It's not the Pac 12 where you pretty much have to be a top 2 or 3 team in the conference to make the NCAAT outright.
It's how it is now with being in 1 of 2 super conferences, but it isn't hard to be middle of the pack in the conference which all but guarantees a spot.
I've read all the excuses and he's saying all the right things about the season but the problem right now is 100% if Sprinkle's going to go hard in the portal then he has to get them playing great toward the middle of the season at the latest, just like every other basketball coach that does this.
Every team now has to supplement with the portal. The name of the game in college basketball is how QUICKLY you get your system implemented and players in sync with each other. Every team is doing it, no excuses.
Last years team was guard heavy, and this years team will be forward / bigs laden … so far. They have a lot more to pick up at this point. Losing the French kid to BYU, though still basically unproven in college ball, feels like it hurt, but we'll see how he does in Provo.
BYU will have frenchy and next year’s projected #1 NBA pick together. Not bad.
Detlef/Christian Welp pipeline 40 years later?
Pat Femerling and Martin Breunig as well.
Was always partial to the Icelanders myself.
Listened to the Sprinkle interview this afternoon. I was fired up about it. Two more players incoming according to him.
Basically he said he knew over the summer that the guards weren't even B1G caliber and that this was going to be a rough first year. He was so pissed about the season that he didn't even watch the selection show, he's never been more motivated in his career, etc.
Yes, every loser coach says that. Guess you'd have to hear it from him.
Well, the cruitin' certainly reflects that. It seems as if the team is more talented now..
