Of course the usual replies about how the coaches were getting paid and could leave whenever they wanted and now they're just "coping".
Parents have ruined every sport at every level except the pros, where the pros themselves have ruined that level because of the shitty values their parents taught them.
I pretty much agree but most of the coaches aren't just innocent bystanders as a whole. Coaches leveraging for constant fucking raises to get richer when they're already rich and then doing buyouts and all that bullshit isn't that much different and it got more and more hypocritical to pay coaches insane amounts but players just scholarships and stipends. The portal also kind of had to eventually exist in some capacity since coaches started pushing kids out if they didn't need them. Similar vibes with the recruiting game where coaches offer guys and accept commitments but will drop them if something better arises.
It's all basically a dirty pool of bullshit and yes failed capitalistic markets with no oversight which ultimately mostly fucks over the fans while others get paid.
Dude made $25,000,000 in his career as a head coach. The landscape has changed. Evolve or die. This dude will be at Auburn in 2 years when their coach leaves to replace Izzo or whoever. Suggesting that "they" don't care about their children is disgusting. The "bad" model for their career is to make less money? JFC. They aren't earning the money they are now? Holy fuck that's some high level bullshit.

I hear what Alford is saying but he's getting paid a buttload too to coach a kids game.
He's getting paid to raise money for womens sports and mens sports that don't turn a profit.

College football and skiing are the 2 best examples I can think of in terms of late stage capitalism creating a shitty customer experience.
of course the coach at Nevada is whining about NIL.
