I know this is the narrative and I think it has to play a part. I have thought since JTT that they'll overpay extra to continuously pull the top kids out of Washington, but there has to be more to it than just that and UW should combat better than it seems they do. It looks like they might have a female OLB coach recruiting him. Interesting.
there is more to it. money is just part of the recruiting package. Washington can afford to pursue players that they value. fischdicks doesn't recruit as well as he thinks he does. fans seemingly think he is a better recruiter than he is. he is a middling recruiter, recruiting middling players. for a team that will likely be middling. he doesn't "lose" recruits just to oregon.
Like Petersen, with his run in 2016, 17 and 18, if Jed gets a big season or two at UW to sell as evidence that the development and coaching leads to wins and draft picks then I think he can push UW inside the top 20 in recruiting without taking a 30 kid class. Took Pete 4 classes to level up.
Exactly. I don’t think there’s nearly as much talent on this 25 team as 16 or 17 but it might be close to the 2018 team. Demond has a chance to be special, something Browning never was. If he is this next season could surprise. Not saying it will, don’t twist.
Petersen's very first class had Gaines, Pettis, Syd Jones, Baker, Sample, Dissly, and McGary. That's a lot of hits from a small class. I don't think the comparison really works.
We have zero idea if there will be major hits from Fishy’s first class. Won’t know for 2-3 years. If anyone thought Pete’s first class was going to result in multiple NFL draft picks you’re lying. I clearly remember a bunch of “Straight outta the WAC” memes on this board in regard to his first two classes.
I know it's not exactly what anyone is saying but hoping to replicate what Petersen did 10 years ago is nearly impossible and time has shown he was a generational level talent evaluator. Those first couple classes were some of the best scouted you could ever dream of.
There's limited case study but I have liked what I've seen from Fisch's career thus far in evaluation and I think he can combine that with his country club hustler shit to hopefully recruit at a levlehigh enough to compete for the playoffs sooner rather than later.
There is zero doubt in my mind that Fisch can recruit, and him getting Walter’s as DC has eased some anxiety, however, to me, can he coach/playcall the offense at a high level. He didn’t have much to work with last season. If he can coach up QB’s and play call at a Sark or higher level, we will absolutely have something. This season will tell us what kind of x’s and 0’s we have with our Jimmies and Joe’s
lol down to 8. And if he blows up his senior year he could very well end up at a school not on his current list like SC or Uncle Fills University. That and a commit hasn’t been shit for years.
I enjoyed Rick’s recruiting excitement early on and of course Petersen. Or reading in the Seattle Times in the 70/80s on the last page of the sports section.

81% chance he circles back to UW after he gets hosed off.
The Oregon bag for Coleman-Brusa is said to be X-Large..

Remind you of anyone?
These things seem true to me:

a run will open up pocket books as well.

The straight out of the WAC comments weren't from me.
I think we do know. I know, lipo and all that. Maybe I'll end up wrong, but I doubt it.
Some good players already from his first class (Demond, DeGraaf, A Muhammad, Paki…), but a couple are already gone (House, Waters).
It’s a new era, and keeping your players wasn’t such a worry for Petersen.

hey man, those are two very good tables that we’ll get a VOTT.
