I won’t watch one minute of college basketball until the elite 8.
The most painful fact about losing the natty last year, it would have been the perfect ending to my all-in Husky Fandom that began in the early 60s. I could have wrapped a bow on being a die hard dawg. Like many, I don’t enjoy this free agent, portal, bags of cash, end of west coast football PAC. It’s all a money grab with tv networks pulling all the strings. “Not for this fan”
UW is a top 20 team most every year, but with Big 12 and ACC teams in the top 25, that shouldn't really be ranked (or ranked so high) UW may find itself considered in the top 35 most years. UW can't compete with the top 12-15 spender teams.
If Demond pans out as a big-time QB, then his 3rd and 4th years are the time to spend big NIL money on the team, and not this upcoming year. Roughly every 3rd year, UW can compete with the big spending teams.
Let the big spending teams get NIL donor fatigue over the next handful of years.
YouTube suggested me some of the hype videos of 2023 and got me thinking this too. Really felt like the last gasp of college football. That Michigan team included as well.
They were bought like Penix and our stud purchased Miss St tailback, cb, not 5 star Bama at tOSU best safety as 2nd year true sophomore superfreak. Michigan isn’t exactly Ohio State (not you @WoolleyDoog) or Nike University. UM had a great team and a better program builder/HC. He has a better chance at winning a SB compared to his 49er team led by Kap imo
You got my point about wrapping the 🎁 with a UW win Wooly. The Dutchman didn’t exactly built UW, he was gifted Petersen recruits ie the OL. He definitely wasn’t all in after hiring Sexton. Saban was vetting our OC in 2023. Sexton, Saban … hand picked Bama’s coach in waiting as WA reached what 13 in a row. I believe Debore wanted to win bigly. Zero chance he wasn’t distracted in December cuog game hello, and nearly letting Sark bring Texass back. He can recruit Bama, they knew his Defensive coaches sucked. UW isn’t all in, and if they ain’t all in I doubt I will care about college football, definitely not in 2030 unless there is some common sense decisions about serious guardrails. When guys like Petersen and Saban burnout with the direction of college ball says alot Taylor Rapp. Sorry I tend to occasionally rant when I see my favorite since forever headed toward 2-and done.
@RaceBannon@WoolleyDoog - I meant Converse, not Adidas = brain fart. Yes I remember Bird and Magic playing in Indiana at Momma bird’s house in the commercials back in the 80’s. I’m turning the page on the Refuge personally and I gave my word to lil angry Boblet publicly. I obviously won’t write another word there just in case he’s an actual Serial Killer vs the female population.
Please pass my message in the refuge if possible, and I will donate a shitty lil badge to the poster of your choice not named @lil’bobby or a Rat. I will include my own donation in Feb.
I will only lurk there and contribute the occasional mello 👎💜. @HuskyJW 👊🏻😎 and @Bill
I mean there's nothing wrong with skipping college to go straight into a professional trade like carpet laying, plumbing, electrical, etc.
Why should sports be any different? For instance, if a young women is good enough to play professionally in softball, then she ought to skip school and hit the pros.
Are softball players on scholarship or a partial at UW? Do they make decent money professionally?
If my 40+ aged daughters loved and were good at softball (uw good) I would have preferred they get an education while playing at a former PAC University. UW or a school in California.
Did you mean let them get drafted out of high school?
I don't think the NFL wants to build a farm system that they have to pay for. The college setup is perfect for them. That's the one sport where there's zero chance any kid can jump directly from high school and not get destroyed.
They are on full scholarships. There is no big money professional softball league that I'm away of.
And that's the joke. You now have women's softball players - who play a non revenue sport (i.e., costs more to operate then it generates in ticket sales and TV revenue) wanting NIL to play at your school. Starters at top 15 ish women's hoops teams are now getting $400K to $500K NIL deals.
It's a complete absurdity that these student athletes thinks they should get paid, but paying the footballers opened up that Pandora's box and here we are.

Chinned without even watching because sooner or later the Saudis will own CFB and every sport will officially be ruined.
Is there anything preventing high school kids from getting paid? I haven't looked into that much.
It's a good video. I actually learned a few things. Since the rules change every few months, it's hard to keep up.
College basketball has sucked for a while with one and dones. Now college football sucks. There's nothing left.
My biggest fear is CFB becomes college basketball.
At the same time, that would save me a ton of money and time.

You think that Michigan team wasn't bought?

There's still part of me that whishes the Universities would say fuck it and get our of the professional sports bidness.
Fuck them kidz and let them get drafted out of college into the NFL and play a few years for shitty farm systems teams on one cares about.
You'll get your wish

I mean is there a civil rights law which says The NFL and the WNBA have to pay their athletes equally?
Nope
