Have they priced themselves out of the market? Wine and weed are complimentary IMHO but I can't handle the Big California or WA Reds that are 14.5%, nor do I want to pay 40% more than I paid 5 to 10 years ago.
Restaurants have also gotten in on it, partly due to aggressive minimum wages mandated by local government. It's easier to raise a glass of wine cost from $12 to $17 than it is an entree from $24 to $29 since people probably notice food price increases more (and someone is much more likely to order two $17 glasses of wine).

I would guess that the large increase in marijuana and hard drug users has cut down on drinking. And the lazy ass young consumers are drinking relatively weak pre-mixed drinks at 4-5% ABV. Haven't seen a lot of pre-mixed martinis.

Experts say when younger consumers do indulge, they are choosing premixed, ready-to-drink options. In fact, premixed beverages are one of few areas in the alcohol industry to see growth.
Wine, which comes in a large bottle and may require a corkscrew or extra glasses, is at a disadvantage compared to the convenience of premixed drinks.

This is the case. Younger drinkers are saying no to wine. Napa is hemorrhaging and the cost for fine wine is starting to drop. If you're into wine, there should be some good deals coming soon.
Easy to be a saint if you aren't tempted. Don't like the way weed or really any pain medication makes me feel. I'm doing my share for the US wine industry.
Our cellar masters are telling us prices are coming down and they're making deals for 20 years out.
Inflation is making luxury goods less popular and value goods more popular. I'd bet the market for hard liquor and beer is as strong as ever.

Beer sales have also been declining for several years. Younger generations don't drink as much.
