I don’t think either loss was damaging long term.
The damage to UW was already set into motion by DeBoer leaving, and half the roster following him out the door.
Oregon’s loss stings, but next year they have a gimmie schedule. It’s set up for Oregon to finish at worst 11-1 in the regular season, which will put them in playoff talks again.
It’s kind of a dumb question. Most damaging I’d say Oregon, but the question is debating a pillow fight to a thumb prick.
Now if Lanning takes an NFL job in the offseason, and Oregon can’t replace him with say Dillingham, then it’s a different conversation. Because I’d argue this game led to Lanning leaving.

Depends on how one defines "damaging". Oregon's loss was far more embarrassing, but Washington was 4 quarters away from a Natty and those opportunities don't come along very often.

The games themselves are basically a wash. That was probably UW’s last realistic chance at NC. If they had won and DeBoer still left we? would have held on to that forever and barely given a shit this year.
Oregon will be back in the playoffs next year and only Washington fans will remember the loss to Ohio State.

I read this as which was more embarrassing and that was an easy choice. I don’t think either are necessarily damaging. It did seem like this was a great year for Oregon which lined up well nationally but I wonder if more and more every year it’s just going to be a pretty even field of 10 teams and whoever has the best portal mercenaries who Pop and put it together in the Playoffs just wins and we’re done with super dominant teams and they’re setup well for that.
