The Van Halen version is better. You all know it's true.
Football was invented in 1994 post of the week!
You can't get to EVH without first going through the Kinks → Who → Cream/Hendrix → Page → part of the story first. Oh and VH covered 2 of these songs, plus another Kinks song from 1965.
The first use of feedback on a popular (rock) recording…
yeah, there was distortion on earlier stuff like Link Wray but I feel fine was a first.
Love me some Kinks. Huh?
The days when entire songs were just over 2 mins long.
There is a live recording of a Kinks show from 1979 which shows up on my Amazon music; IMHO better versions than the original recordings, and better than @BleachedAnusDawg's Van Halen version.
I saw the Kinks at “Seattle Center Coliseum” in 83…top 5 in a long list of concerts for me…
I have said LP but haven’t listened in a while.
Kinks are in my top 10 all time favorite groups.
I don't even think I can fathom your collection. Goodness
The I Feel Fine riff has a lot more to it than the feedback lead-in. Set aside your anti Beatles biases for a sec and listen to it. It's in a class of its own compared to the others. House Of the Rising Sun is the only one that comes close.
