It's not a terrible point that our Pac-12 sized and style defense got trucked by the classic Big 10 type teams but that to me was much more of a front four issue and needing just better players. Tuputala has great size and looked ineffective against any decent OL.
The big thing to House to me was he seemed to have a knack for turnovers and we've struggled greatly with creating turnovers for years. It felt a bit last year like we were a poor man's PK defense where we didn't give up a lot of big plays but were just eviscerated on third and long and struggled to get off the field.

If you can find me any of the good B1G teams that can get away with undersized linebackers that play every down then I will end my assumption that House wasn't offered as much as he wanted because the staff just got ran over a bunch and sees him as situational.
The other possibility is that we're just getting fucked by hiring little Stevie and getting him as a 1-2 year rental was fs on Jedd's part. Because UNC is the other rumor.
