Starting OL and DL next year

Will it be good enough to win @WSU and @Michigan for the first two non layup games of 2025?
LT: SR McCree
LG: RS-Frosh Paki Finau OR portal stud
C: JR Hatchett
RG RS-SR Memelaar
RT: RS-JR Azzopardi OR RS-Soph Tafai
DE: True JR Jacob Lane OR Portal Stud
DT: RS-Soph Ellineus Davis OR Portal Stud
DT: True SR Jayvon Parker (if he's recovered) OR SR Bryce Butler OR Logan Sagapoulo (if he gets another year)
DE: RS-JR Isiah Ward OR Senior DeShawn Lynch
They may not need to portal in an OL but will definitely need to portal in at least 1 DT and ideally a well-rounded DE since Ward is more of a pass-rush guy and Lynch is more of a 5 tech DL.
LB also needs portal attention since House is will be a true soph while Deven Bryant and the transfer from Michigan are unproven as far as I can tell. ZRS could easily be in the two deeps as a true frosh.
Anyone else have thoughts?

Durfee might be back
Need one stud on each line bought via portal
It will be good enough to beat WSU. Michigan, maybe
-
I forgot about Durfee, would be nice to have him as he's a 3 down DE but I don't think he'll ever be healthy enough to play more than a few games before getting hurt again.
-
Need more time
Need to get bigger
Need more money
-
Definitely need more money to bring in some stud transfers. The going rate for a good OL / DL is about $300k from what I've heard.
-
so they’re gonna suck again
awesome -
Need to spend money on at least 2 OL transfers and at least 1 DL transfers (possibly 2) to contend.
Next year will be Rebuild Year 1 (Take 2)
-
Need a head coach
-
Apparently too expensive for UWAD…
-
No. That’s the line of a 6 win team. Said months ago losing Marcus Bryant to Mizzo probably cost this team 2 wins and still believe it.
Scary thing is they must not think much of the Freshman OL tackles that they haven’t given even one of them a shot considering how bad the line has played. -
And that 6 wins is if more goes more right than wrong.
Our projected DL next year makes the returning OL look like the 2023 group.
-
Assparty and Tafai are so bad. Im not sure they have any opportunity to be good tackles. Interior has been solid to good?
I see lots of good on the D line though so I'm willing to LIPO especially if Durftoe is back. Lack of pass rush IMO is Belichick
-
Steve Belichick has made 2 phone calls since getting off plane this morning.
One to his agent letting all 32 NFL teams he will take ANY defensive position coach opening that comes up
Second to his real estate agent seeing if his landlord will let his lease go from month to month to day to day if he agrees to pay extra every month for that flexibility.
-
He makes over a million as a playcaller at UW. There are only 5-6 DC in the NFL that make that much. He’s not leaving unless his dad gets another job and it sounds like Kraft blackballed Bill. I could be wrong and maybe a pay cut and giving up playcalling is worth not recruiting but personally I never like leaving money on the table.
-
There are at least 15 who make that much.
-
You’re Close. There are 12 that make more. Belechiks salary would put him T13 out of 32 DC’s in the NFL. I stand corrected. If he performs at UW he’ll get a raise that would put him top10 in the NFL. He’d be taking a big pay cut to be a position coach.

I'm not that down on Belicheck because losing his best corner (Dixon to such a BS call in the first quarter) forced him to be more conservative. And it's not like he returned Bralen Trice and ZTF. Durfee was supposed to be the next good UW pass-rusher and can't get healthy while the other guys aren't 3 down linemen yet (Isiah Ward, Lance Holtzclaw, and Jacob Lane).
And let's be honest, Bandes and Valdez are JAGs. I like Elinneus Davis for a guy who could be good against the run and pass but he's only a RS-Frosh so I'm looking forward to seeing him next year. The staff will definitely need to find a stud DL or two in the portal and that will cost at least $350k each (if not $500k).

who cares
-
Parker will have a RS this season - injury happened in Game 4
-
Oh great. Hopefully he's ready for some snaps the first few games of the season and then ready for more work as part of the rotation.
-
2026 will special.
-
"portal stud" lol
-
Is it odd that Henning I don't think has played at all? Wasn't he one of the first guys off the bench last year?
-
He's played a little bit, primarily a 6th OL. He only played in two games last year so he's a RS-Frosh this year. He should compete with Paki Finau for LG next year.
-
He's played a lot as you mentioned as a 6th OL in what would be 2 TE sets …
-
@NSA_Dawg??!!?? True??!!??

Until it isn't. Pick your favorite excuse:
__ More guys left than we thought would go.
__ Portal guys didn't match our needs.
__ B1G is TUFF.
__ You can't expect to be a bowl team every year. You just can't.
__ Too many injuries.
__ Too much coaching turnover.
__ It's HARD to convince high school kids to come to Warshington when Team Nike is doling out bags like there's no tomorrow.
__ It really takes a few more years to put together a good offensive line.
__ Too many atmospheric rivers keep the talent away.
__ We really need a good drop-back passer now.
__ We really need a good running quarterback now.
__ It all starts with the running game, and we don't have the horses.
__ It all starts with a strong defense, and we don't have the horses.
__ We don't have the horses.

Not to pee in your cheerios, but he was injured in game 5.
-
Maybe he could get a medical redshirt since it was a season ending injury and happened before the halfway mark? I think the rules for that are a little different than a regular redshirt.
-
You’re right
I wonder if they will petition for a medical redshirtWill amend accordingly
-
I would if I was Jayvon Parker. Come back in 2025 as a RS-JR (with a medical redshirt) so he has the option to come back in 2026 or try his shot with the NFL if his achilles holds up.
