Winning 10-11 games at UCLA is looking like a pretty good achievement now and he was fired almost entirely because he called out his AD for not giving a shit about football. And he was still recruiting well even despite that.
Mora seems like a good coach but just a squirrelly guy or some shit who does weird things and pisses people off. Like when he was saying the interview stuff about UW being his dream job while doing well as the Falcons coach.
Kind of thought he was like all things Sark just better at all things. UCLA has won 10 games this millennium and two of them were with Mora and he was recruiting really well there. I think the soft culture just eventually won out at UCLA.
He had some juice at UCLA for a while and a lot of people, me included, actually would have taken him over Petersen because there were questions of if Petersen could recruit at a higher level and if he had peaked.
If he takes the UW job at any point I feel like he has some success then wigs out and takes some NFL job with a bad franchise and quickly gets fired then asks for his job back.
some of you non-cake attenders forget this was before 0-12. Had we? got our? way, 0-12 would have never happened. Some of you not-so-close to the tunnel and without the same access as me seem to not understand that.
It's a really interesting thought exercise and I agree aout the same is likely. On one hand he did far better at UCLA than CHIP KELLY. OTOH Chip Kelly gave up on football and Mora's trajectory towards the end was bad bad.
Might have been hard to move off of him if need be given the alum status and no chance St Haden (may he be forever praised) steals him away.
Would have been more fun than Sark. I'd still like to see that alternate reality out of curiousity but probably wouldn't have been much different in the end.
UW was so bad that the rebels were fawning over a half assed NFL coach none of them would have even heard of had he not name checked UW (Yes I know he played there) in a sports talk radio interview. An interview I randomly heard live while I was driving around Los Angeles.
“The next Pete Carroll”
Further fallout: We later had our own eDuck civil war (mods?) over Helfrich that I believe birthed the refuge and I got to meet all you nice people.
Mora would have led UW in 2008 to an incredibly fun 8-4 or 9-3 season. Just his personality and desire to win vs Willingham's would have been a breath of fresh air.

With the way things are going, might need to switch to a double-aught.
Would he would have been better or worse than Sark?
in retrospect about the same
I love his postgame rants. I know I’m in the minority but I think he cares about his players too much. Except kickers of course
I think he'd be quite a bit better overall.

So was the cake delivery 2007 or 2008? I was there and I couldn’t remember the year.
08 IIRC
Had to be 07 because Ty was retained instead of hiring Mora and owen12 happened in 08
After the 08 season Mora already had a NFL job
And halfbrains were born when the 07 team became ineligible for a bowl
Cool artwork!
wow that was only 17 years ago? Guess it just seems like 47
Had an NFL job = “He has a contract!!!”
A romantic and passionate lover…
Man, I used to love those days on Dawgman.
Pure violence.

I like these history lesson threads
