usc should be investing 90% of their recruiting capital on the trenches. Skill positions out west can be filled for next to nothing or if in a pinch are easy portal adds.
it’s pretty crazy how bad USC is and has been. They have no excuse. Riley has been there for 3 years now. They didn’t lose a coach or get their entire team ransacked by the portal in January. They act like they were some juggernaut in the PAC 12 but were only relevant during the Pete Carroll years in the past 20-30 years. too lazy to really look it up.
They actually added a guy as DC that was pretty highly regarded.
USC always being mediocre of sucking constantly is one of college football's biggest mysteries to me. They aren't like a Nebraska or Notre Dame who have limitations so I don't get it.
They've had about 2.5 big seasons in my lifetime outside of the Pete. At this point I am starting to think it's a harder job than one might think.
DeBoer could have been Dong James or he could have been Lincoln Riley. If I had to choose between Fish or DeBoer continuing what he was doing at UW I’d choose Boner and the momentum. Living in the reality that the guy left before building whatever he was going to build here and decimated the roster on the way out, I’m glad Fish, for all his flaws is here. He’s got an actual track record of building something from nothing. Riley and DeBoer can’t say that.
I'm probably burning my money here, but I couldn't help but take Rutgers at +14.5. I think the team has quit on Riley.
