This years dux defense appears to be better at crunch time, obviously the running game is not as good depth wise but I think the offensive line is better as well. The main difference is scoreboard babay ~ this years team just demonstrated the mental toughness to keep the faith and win the game anyway, even when the other talented team is continuing to push up the score out ahead of you, and make plays. Its tough to run the table, most teams don’t even when they have the talent advantage but i think this years dux team has a legitimate chance to make the finals and win it.
Meanwhile, the unfolding drama with our favorite coaches at Texas and Alabama, plus USC’s ongoing debacle is entertaining.
Speaking as someone who has said he would like Lanning to be coach at UW, I am saying it is unquestionably a down year in college football. A down year for great teams and a down year for great QBs.
If the conferences didn’t merge we’d currently have:
Undefeated UO (Instead of UW)
Undefeated Ohio State (Same as always)
Undefeated Texas (Same as last year)
1 loss Georgia (To Alabama, as always)
Undefeated Miami (Instead of FSU)
ACC will pump out 1 loss Clemson or 0 loss Miami (Instead of FSU)
The bowl losses are coming in the regular season instead on January you ding dongs. There were always going to be more losses for the top teams in the condensed map.
Mike is right. College ball is now the NFL. If you make the layups (WSU, Rutgers, Iowa) you're still alive in game 7 even at poor old Worshington that can't afford a REAL coach and whines about how others spend NIL money

Is this based on inside sources?

It's almost like zero roster continuity and NIL $ affecting the locker room has cheapened the product.
