Our feathered friends needed us to sell tickets. Unfortunately I attended the 1987 game they are selling tickets off of. First home win over UW since 1973. The crack head fans at unremodeled Autzen Arena went crazy after the game. My wife turned to me and said we are never doing this again. I went alone in 2000. Glad I did not take grandma that day.

I was there. It was awful.
Tony Cherry scored on a TD around the left end.
A Duck fan in a truck was doing donuts in the parking lot dragging a stuffed Husky
Samesies
he scored in the end zone right in front of us
One of my dads “accidentally” bumped a duck fan whose arms were totally full with concessions as he was trying to cross in front of them in the row. Guy went ass over tea kettle.
“oh wow….. sorry, sir! I’m so sorry!”
I was only 13 years old at the time and my friend that I went to the game with and I still have big belly laughs.
Oregon was favored by game as well I’m remembering correctly. I still remember the announcer after the game “ the oddsmakers said two but we beat them by three!”
Autzen went nuts
I was there. Both parents were from Seattle and both families were 100% Huskys. Grandpa was a UW season ticket holder for like 60 years by the time he passed. We were brainwashed little doogs living in Portland
Dad took me and our kid to this game. About half way through we stared rooting for Oregon.
Continued to root for both teams for a while most notably at the 1992 World Champs Rose Bowl. But, me and little bro’s heads had already been turned by the sexy little Ducks thanks to this terrible day for Grace’s wife.
Was 87 the year we? beat Rodney Peet's troojans at Autzen? I was a kid at that game and it was quite formative.
back to back weekends, pal
the 80s is an underrated decade. I miss the cheese.
Then the other 3 California schools happened, plus a beatdown at ASU to cap off a 4-game losing streak. Finished strong against WSU and beav. From 4-1 to 6-5, no bowl.
1988 was arguably more painful. Another W over the Huskies to go 6-1, only to lose the last 5 to go 6-6, including losses to Beav and at Hawaii to end the season.
But the 1989 bowl game happened. Rich Brooks had a plan. A 17 year plan to lose the Rose Bowl
But football was invented
It’s called Rich Brooks Field for a REASON.
Indeed, the Poulan Weedeater Bowl was played in 1989 B.F. (before football).
But as of that game, football was now a bona fide embryo. It should be noted, however, that said football fetus narrowly escaped abortion from 1990-93.
I remember when I interviewed Rich Brooks for Dawgman. Samek was apologizing to readers for two weeks.
I'm sorry that you completely failed your family.
20 and 9 since 1994 and the uniform conspiracy theories have spectacular
That’s a good line but aren’t you the guy who’s dad(s) won’t go to UW games with you anymore?
*whose
Yep.
Terry Obee. Oh wait, that was 88. I have zero memory of the 87 game.
I was in the end zone seats for both games
I was there in 1988, 1994, 2000
