Some purists don’t consider electric heat, pellet smoke devices REAL barbecue. Just saying.
I’d probably get a traeger if I had more space, but my $79.00 Weber (Sputnik wasn’t a UFO) grill does some pretty kick ass ribs. It’s just messy and requires a lot of fuckery to get the right heat and smoke. But I’m a pyro at heart and like fucking around with that stuff.
No, I don't (didn't?) know how to barbeque but Traeger's articles, pellets, and rub has been taking me to flavor country, I can assure you.
However I'm not quite gay enough to download their app and set the up the timers on it or anything. Traeger also thinks you should leave shit in the grill for less than half of what it actually should take to cook shit.
It's just how it was presented. I don't really have an issue with getting a typical ~2-300$ grill from wherever, but they try to triple the price because:
1) It's attached to a metal table with a tiny bit of hardware for the pussy apps.
2) It's at a Bellevue Crate and Barrel so it's clearly an upscale grill!
I own the Weber in question, but got it at $500 several years ago. It's well worth the premium over the standard Weber. Ignition to get the charcoal going, large prep area, huge storage bin for a full bag of charcoal.
Having had stuff from pellet grills and the Weber, I will take the Weber. Pellet grills are too mild, IMO. If I had the cash and space I'd buy a huge offset.
It’s super easy to make great smoked bbq on a Weber. Use the charcoal snake method plus the ice chest slow rest, and it is tough to screw up. Below is a brisket and a pork shoulder I smoked recently:
Not I. I just wore a pair of I'm assuming Costco Puma socks that were hiding at the bottom of the sock drawer, and they were comfy. My sock game has mostly been an amazon foray. I was an early Stance sock guy but then evolved to Under Armor socks, which I find exclusively online.

I saw a Weber grill at Crate & Barrel this evening that was ~600$.
It was basically a piece of shit UFO grill but had some hardware attached to it to make it that price.
My 900$ Traeger that was paid for by Costco Rewards made me laugh at the entire pathetic setup.
Sounds like you don't know how to bbq and don't care about visiting flavor country.

Bellevue Crate and Barrel guy confirmed!!!
Fucking 5 people walked up to us and asked us if we needed help.
No, no my wife doesn't need your help spending a bunch of my money, thanks.
I think we were registered at Crate and Barrel or Williams Sonoma for my bitch face ex (starter) wife wedding.

Jesus I can’t believe I read this entire thread.
I think you’ve all been on a diet of paint chips since I last logged on.
Only cretins don’t like Costco hawt talk.
Getting close to the annual tradition of getting the German beer advent calendar and killing it in under a couple weeks.
Someone, maybe @huskyhooligan, mentioned the Puma socks at Costco. I bought a pack the other day before I left for Utah.
They’re ok, I guess. Super thick and warm though which wasn’t great for southern Utah in September.

The Throbber is a huge fan of BodyGlove socks.
Those sound enticing.
Your pours with your Priuses can't handle the full size SUV Costco lifestyle!
