Washington picking up an SJSU linebacker that had over one fucking hundred tackles last year is a complete difference make and game changer.
Washington will always have a few roster holes at certain positions. The portal fixes that. I've said it before and will say it again - Washington with a good coach and the portal is leveling up everything about the football program.
Remember 2019? Even Petersen, a good coach, trotted out Manu and some other guy who ended up not being good. DDY legend, forget his name.
In 2024 we have 2 legit stud LB, and still got a monster that was overlooked out of HS and developed in the Mountain West. The best of the western FCS and G5 schools will have their players transfer to UW. We will pay them more than any other program besides maybe Oregon and USC, and they seem to be coming here. And these guys are all really good. Valdez, Lynch, Broussard, etc. Hunter from Cal at WR. UW is doing a better job than anyone at identifying and landing transfer talent on the West Coast, rather easily.
Washington made the natty last year and came so close with a transfer QB, RB, WR2.
Roster holes get filled in the snap of a finger these days. Even the Portland State center has looked pretty good so far. Hatchett came in at C and promptly shanked a snap. Keep him at guard and have Henning be the backup and C of the future.
I’m glad to see that nothing has changed with PGOS, this team is indeed good. This organization with a savy, intelligent coach can compete for championships. We saw what happens when you wake the sleeping giant last year, the Blue Bloods are going to struggle playing in Husky Stadium going forward. The Dwags aren’t going anywhere, the D. Williams era with a good defense will be fun to watch. Sound doogish? Sure…
It's going to be weird to see a sophomore QB start after 3 years of experienced as hell portal QBs.
Hopefully Demond is the guy. I would be curious if Fisch brings in a P5 starter to compete for QB1 in year 2, with Demond possible being a Junior/Senior starter at that point.
He is getting a lot of reps right now which is a good thing. Even that play he fumbled he absolutely trucked a DB. I just wonder if he is the answer in year 2.
Demond will put enough highlights on tape in mop-up duty this year that if UW doesn't tell him he's starting next year someone else will give him an NIL bag and he'll be gone.
Good linebacker play can negate not having a stellar interior DL to a certain degree. If our DL can create pressure, then our overall defense stands a chance to be better than last season’s. Some of us were saying that was going to be the case…
I’m just glad Asa isn’t in the backfield breaking ankles
Was watching that Miami-Florida game and the play he got owned and injured on. Announcers were talking about how he was such a huge loss for Florida as he was a major contributor on Washington the year before.
Gonna have to play some Nega Doog devil's advocate here. It the words of The Wolf "Let's not start sucking each other's dicks quite yet." WSU will be a good test for the linebackers given Mateer really wants to run. They contained the Weber running QB well but couldn't sack him, and that could be trouble against a better WR group. The test gets even harder entering the heart of Big 10 play.
The previous staff didn't trust Bruener against teams with better athletes last year and Tuputala was perpetually lost and was a big part of spotting Michigan 17 points. Tuputala has looked better this year but consider the opponents.

This is a good year for a “rebuild” in college football. Not a lot of great teams out there

Brandon Wellington
What a terrible year for the LB play. Wellington and Manu. Yikes.
Ulo came in at the end and was way better than either. Thank you Bob Gregory.
the linebackers have been a breath of fresh fucking air
Tupatala looks particularly violent this year.

DDY and Pepsi were crying that BBK was getting snaps instead of Wellington for years prior
Fuck those guys as always
You’re not wrong. LIPO
complete shit stains.
