I feel like a lead guitarist who is also the ONLY lead singer in his group qualifies. This would include Neil Young with Crazy Horse, Jimi with the Experience, etc. Just my opinion that I refuse to let go of or shut up about.

John Lennon
I'm just going by what the results say when I Google "what is a frontman".
-
It's Mick. Period
I don't really like him or the Stones compared to his peers but he is the Nick Holt blueprint

It’s definitely Mick. I just wrote in Dave Grohl because he’s a hell of a showman. And he says fuck a lot
I’d throw Steve Perry out there as a name - definitely the strongest vocalist - though Journey is legitimately Neil Schon’s band.
-
David Lee Roth
Note: The Nick Holt Blueprint didn't actually work
-
David Lee Roth
Steve Perry is more of an iconic sound rather than a showman
-
Mick Jagger
Voted Mick - wanted to vote for Bon. I can deal with that.

Glad you're still alive

David Lee Roth
I think it is Roth for these reasons
He was one of the better looking guys listed. He could talk to the crowd or in an interview with say Larry King. He sold the band like nobody else. Without Roth, the VH brothers would still be doing Black Sabbath covers He could move and do acrobatics like jumping off drum risers. He really engaged the crowd and hammed it up big time so the crowd was loving it. He made sure to acknowledge what a meal ticket EVH was. He had an ego and backed it up.

David Lee Roth
Also was/is incredibly intelligent and a bit nuts
-
Mick Jagger
This is true. Epic voice. Nothing special stage presence.

Mick Jagger
It didn’t?

David Lee Roth
They held Oregon to 34 points!!!1!!!

David Lee Roth
Possibly too smart by a half. I believe there is the Diamond Dave persona and there is the Dave normal guy persona. I have read where he was at a dog park and he was helping some guy with his dogs. Michael Starr said he met Dave and Starr said he met the true Dave.
Dave could always put together a band. He knows talent and how to surround himself in it. But by the early 2000’s, his Schlick was growing old and he needed to be back in Van Halen. And they needed him.

David Lee Roth
He could have a great radio show BUT he needs someone to ask him questions and keep him from spiraling off into rambling riffs

David Lee Roth
Technically the Eagles had 6 also Chicago had 4 or 5

Trombone Shorty is a helluva frontman whenever the black division pole rolls around
-
Robert Plant
it’s between Plant and Jagger. I decree. Lennon …. Pffft. No.
Diamond Dave is but a Platonic copy of the form of frontman’ness that is Robert Plant. He’s therefore not in the discussion. The other guys are at least original. And I like VH.
Mercury? Hmm. Interesting but no. Front men get the girls, not the guys.
