    Trump's fault.

The ferries in Washington are one of the best things about living there. When single I would take a date over to Roche Harbor and it miraculously enhanced my chances of "just the tip". It is a feature only the State of WA can claim and it is one of the things I miss about living there.

The ferry went down due to a crab trap. Give it a minute…..1…2…..3 and there they are, the rats trying to outlaw crabbing.

Aren't they already down five ferries or something? Good job woke faggots.

I tried to make reservations for the San Juan run last summer. I hadn't been to Orcas since the 90s. Fucking shitshow. It eventually worked out, but it took a lot of attempts and teeth gnashing. $62 just to drive my mom's Accord on board for a day trip.

    Washington State Standard

Washington State Ferries on Thursday published an invitation to bid on building five new hybrid-electric ferries, an overdue achievement that promises to eventually bring more reliability to cross-Sound ferry service.

It’s the first time in more than 50 years that the state will accept bids from shipyards nationwide to construct its vessels. Going out to bid on this contract also represents a major step toward electrification of the WSF fleet. But it’s been choppy getting to this point with a yearslong delay and rising costs. And the difficulties procuring the new boats have gubernatorial candidates in both parties suggesting it could make more sense to stick with diesel power in the near term.

“This is a great milestone for Washington State Ferries as well as the national shipbuilding industry that has shown strong interest in this program,” said Matt von Ruden, the ferry system’s electrification program manager. “These new vessels are urgently needed as WSF works to restore full service and reduce our environmental impacts.”

For frustrated riders, dealing with delays and cancellations, relief for the ferry system’s boat shortage can’t come soon enough.

EV ferries. That will cut ferry fees in half. I'm certain. Leftards don't do math, science or procurement. Hybrid vehicles make some sense because breaking recharges the battery. Ferries brake by reversing the prop which will not recharge the battery, just use more electricity.

Insurance should also be a lot cheaper because a battery fire on a ferry won't just total the ferry but all the cars on it.
