It's a bargain

I see why Atlanta drafted him. 4 years at a bargain.

I can see that being restructured after two years

Seems like a decent amount guaranteed. I don't know what's standard these days. Definitely light overall. What do contracts matter beyond the guaranteed part in the NFL though?
-
I don’t think they can until at least after year 3. It’s the same reason #myNiners can’t redo Purdy’s deal yet
-
seems like a damn good contract for a rookie
-
The old rookie cap was ~ $675,000 per yr. or something. That helped the Seahawks win a Superb Owl. When you think of it that way, it's not that much of a lowball

enjoy that bag young man

Russell Wilson was on a 3rd round deal, not #8 overall. That Penix deal is peanuts compared to what average and up QB's get these days.

I call that a bargain, the best they’ve ever had.
-
But it has nothing to do with player position. Rookie salaries are set by where they are drafted.

Yes, but that's not my point. My point is any QB on a rookie deal who is producing is a massive discount versus the second contract. Russell Wilson at $675k was pretty fluky - I guess Purdy is comparable even though he hasn't actually won a title.
