Both are public figures.... the Sandy hook parents are not. Same situation as the Sandman kid and the MSM. They rightfully had to pay too.

We can talk about freedom of speech(dubious application here) and all that, but the undeniable pint is this:
It was INCREDIBLY stupid to go after families following a school shooting, legal considerations aside. Just mind-numbingly stupid.

Is it Trump’s fault he made the decision to run to challenge and oppose the UniParty/Deep State, which has led to the lives of so many of his supporters being ruined by deep-rooted politicians and their henchmen?

These parents, sad as it may be what happened to their kids, made themselves public figures by holding press conferences and being compensated $5 million/each years ago by the Connecticut taxpayers. Take $5 million from the public, you’re a public figure.
