Ranking 2024 Big 10 Running Backs

2024 Big 10 quarterbacks suck ass, per usual, but running backs are strong. It's hard to actually cut it down to 10.
- Quinshon Judkins Ohio State - 3,000 plus yards from scrimmage and almost 35 TDs in the SEC. Easy #1.
- Donovan Edwards Michigan - I expect him to get back going after his cutback bombs against UW and now that he's the guy on an offense that will probably run more as they rebuild at QB.
- Kyle Monangai Rutgers - Tough runner who cracked 1,200 last year. A workhorse for a crappy program type guy.
- Jonah Coleman Washington - Watching highlights of him he's different and almost cracked 1,000 yards last year while splitting carries. What will he be able to do with UW's line though and having to be the guy at UW?
- Jordan James Oregon - Over seven yards per-carry and 11 touchdowns last year. Same as Coleman, will have to see how he does as the man as Bucky was more of the guy who felt dangerous to defenses.
- Nicholas Singleton Penn State - Had a sophomore slump after an 1,100 freshman season. Should bounce better though.
- Treyeveon Henderson Ohio State - He doesn't seem to be as good as he was as a freshman, but still almost got to 1,000 yards last year. Will lose carries to Judkins.
- Kaytron Allen Penn State - Splits carries with Singleton and still puts up good numbers. Nearly got to 1,000 yards last year.
- Kayron Lynch-Adams Michigan State - Had 1,100 yards last year at UMass and goes to Michigan State where Jonathan Smith has done a great job of maximizing running backs.
- TJ Harden UCLA - Quietly had almost 1,000 all purpose yards and nine touchdowns last year. Guessing Foster sets up RBs well.
Others to watch: Jo'Quavious Marks USC, Tawee Walker Wisconsin, LeShon Williams Iowa, Devin Mockobee Purdue, Darius Taylor Minnesota

Is Cam Davis healthy?
I think he should be by the time the season starts. I just don't think he's one of the 15 best backs in the conference.
What about Big 10 BIG running backs??
It's gonna be interesting to see the Big 10/Pac-12 minor merger at RB because Big 10 guys always seem like they're 220-230 and Pac-12 guys were always 190-205. Even UW finally has a 225 guy. UW the past 20 years plus seemed to do well against the big grinders and get destroyed by little jitterbug guys so I have some optimism.
Coleman doesnt have to be the feature back then. He can do the same exact role while splitting carries.
This assumes Davis is at his 2022 level however, which is a big if
Maybe they forgot Coleman transferred to UW. Davis isn't a #2 of the level that Ohio State or Penn State have but he's comparable if not more proven than the #2 at any of those other schools.

We don't have an offensive line
Coleman is good, but unfortunately that offensive line is going to hold him back.
This idea that 5 speed bumps are just going to let all these slow footed B1G linebackers hold us to Iowa production....eh...lipo.
I don't think the Portland State kid is going to start. And guys like Henning will exceed expectations, I think. That actually looks like a great get by the old staff.
I'm not gonna doog on the OL but Polk and Sankey ran for a gazillion yards behind comparable OLs. I also assume we will see a lot of quick hitting passes and draws etc to scheme. This won't be Jimmy's scheme that wanted to road grade.
I don't really know what their situation was (Didn't they get one OL drafted in the first round this year?) but I wasn't that impressed with Arizona's line last year and thought that they had to scheme around it and really pick their shots with McMillan anyways.
Fafita had to move around in the pocket a bunch, but as long as you have a QB that is good at it then whatever.
One thing Sarkisian was good at that helped the running game was making off script play calls. He'd run on 2nd down after a loss on first, or call a run on 3rd and 10.
Gaskin ran behind Huff lines that ranged from swinging gate to stellar in the same series. Good sometimes but never consistent and always prone to breakdowns where multiple defenders were in the backfield before the handoff.
No way this OL is good enough to just advertise run and then execute it. Fully agree that it's going to be about timing play calls and (hopefully) a mobile QB causing defenders to play on their heels.
Jordan Morgan was the first round LT. I think he was a Sumlin recruit and it's a good selling point for Carroll/Fisch as they developed him up. I don't remember their line being particularly impressive and they were in the middle of the conference last year per-rush and in sacks given up. Coleman had a higher yardage per-carry by 2.4 over any other back. They really struggled without Morgan in the Alamo Bowl against Oklahoma.
Supposedly their RG Savaiinaea, who I think was recruited and developed by Carroll/Fisch is a potential first rounder in the next two years.
The offensive line is going to be solidly mediocre, which is way better than people are expecting
What's the depth tho?
People that have covered practice think that the #3 back, TF Muhammed is the most talented of the 3. And Sam Adams isn't bad he's just been hurt and not as good of a fit with DeBoer's offense.
Adams should switch to defense.
Maybe, but now it feels like the secondary is pretty locked down and solidified with enough depth.
