"So they took a freshly painted gold helmet, a well-worn purple jersey, a soaking wet Husky Stadium seat cushion, a current depth chart and old game footage, put it all in a blender and out came the University of Washington football team holding down the nation's 13th most difficult schedule for the coming season, courtesy of ESPN."

It's true
The defending national champion Nittany Lions began the season ranked #4 in the nation, but suffered through three straight losses, with two to ranked opponents (#1 Nebraska and #13 Iowa), which dropped them out of the polls. Penn State rebounded with five straight victories, beating #3 Alabama and #4 West Virginia before a match-up with #19 Boston College. The 27–17 loss to the Eagles was their last of the season, as they beat Brown and Notre Dame (while tying Pittsburgh) to finish with a 7–4–1 record. This was their 13th straight appearance in a bowl game[2] and they were favored by one point.[1]

That was a GOOD Brown skwad

Don James gets worse and worse the further away we get from his era. It is a classic HHB talking point.

Beat Iowa (we get a safety), lose to the fighting Cohens. 8-4 sounds close.

Not true beatdown, but we? lost 35-10. They lost to Eastern.
