I mean if the strategy is to tread water in 2024 (with the toughest schedule in the cycle) and win 6-8 games while building for 2025 and 2026, I'm cool with it.
I'm LIPO with dudes from lower level schools. No idea how the coaches evaluate and project these guys to their scheme. Can't assume they are shit because they're from low levels though. We see these dudes transfer up to bigger schools and/or get drafted every year. And transferring has never been easier.
This was the top line in college football last year, allegedly, Michigan may differ, but still
Washington's starting O-line featured seven different players and four different lineups, including junior left tackle Troy Fautanu (13 starts), junior left guard Nate Kalepo (13 starts, incl. 1 at RG), redshirt freshman center Parker Brailsford (13 starts, incl. 2 at RG), redshirt senior center Matteo Mele (2 starts - injured), redshirt junior right guard Julius Buelow (6 starts), sophomore right guard Geirean Hatchett (5 starts), and sophomore right tackle Roger Rosengarten (13 starts).
Can a recruiting expert tell us how highly recruited this group was? Serious question. We've discussed numerous times how the O line seems to stand out as a crap shoot. Size and athleticism at age 22 instead of 18 matters IMO
Rosengarten - mid four star should have been high though
Mele - high three star
Hatchett - mid four star maybe low
Shitty thing is next year Rosengarten could have slid to LT and all but Fautanu return while throwing in Azzopardi, or Memmelaar, who was the starter in fall camp.
I think had Boner come back that’s exactly what would have happened. A good line anchored by Rosengarten at LT, Roger’s at QB, Bernard, Boston and Hunter at WR, they had a good G5 transfer RB up on a visit before they left, can’t remember who and the Fresno TE who is at aTm now. That’s a good offense heading to the B1G. Oh well, scratch out 7-8 wins and build it back. Not Build Back Better though. That didn’t work.
Just regarding the OL I'd be curious on the Rosengarten to LT thing. I think everyone assumes it's the ideal thing for him but I'm not entirely sure. He went round 2 at RT and I assume that's the grade he got, with the shot at maybe even sneaking into the first so would that experiment be necessary.
I'd be curious on the money difference between LT and RT because it seems like RT gets way less scrutiny and is way less challenging.
Agreed, I don't think RR was coming back since he had a clean bill of health and didn't really have anything to prove. He will also get to his 2nd contract faster.

Thank fuck he's talented. The alternative would be almost too much to bear.
Thanks Taft!
We're taking transfers from Old Dominion?
We literally played for the Natty 5 months ago. What in the actual fuck?
fisher of boys like his bags for HS kids so the new OL transfer criteria is if they fog a mirror and will come play for free.

Lots of spots to fill yet. Hammer down, boys.

I think all but Parker and maybe Mele were 4 stars
If I remember correctly…
Fautanu - low four star
Kalepo - low four star maybe high three
Brailsford - low three star
Buelow - low four star
Rosengarten - mid four star should have been high though
Mele - high three star
Hatchett - mid four star maybe low

I would have to think this was one of the more highly-rated UW OL units of all time.

he gone. But we? just picked up an Ohio State lineman
Plug-n-play!
Now we're losing OL transfers from ODU to Memphis
I'm fine with this. This isn't the caliber of player we should be bringing in anyways if we want to compete in the B1G
agreed except we don't have anyone else
Agreed. Agreed. I feel like we're back to the Jimmy era where yeah we didn't want that guy but the alternative is nothing.
he fogged a mirror guys…
