Murphy and McDuffie are good comparisons because Murphy didn't spend much time in a Husky uniform. Redshirted 2016 then was injured for most of 2017 and then had a stellar 2018 and was gone to the NFL after sophomore year. I think McDuffie is still a much better player.
I would say Vita works next to Emtman. I may have said Ron Holmes, but he was actually a DE (before my time). I am tempted to say Gaines because he was such a fucking rock for four full years.
QB Penix - yeah. Or Moon. BJ deserves a mention because he didn't lose.
RB McElhenny - but for those younger than Race Gaskin - also worthy of mention, Kaufman and Dillon.
WR Rome - it might be a toss up with him and Reggie though. Rome seems like a lot better locker room guy though - I'd go Rome, Reggie and Mario Bailey - that's as short as I can make the list
TE Bruener - ASJ is the stat guy but he's not THAT GUY - and argument could be made for Aaron Pierce.
OL Fautanu - I'm curious who the other options are other than Big Linc? I think Kreutz was a bad locker room guy - toss in Benji Olson, Mike Zandofsky and Kevin Gogan for consideration
DE Reggie Rogers? Recently would have killed for Kikaha on the 2016-18 teams or the past two years - an argument could be made for Ron Homes as well.
DT Emptmann - easily. Larry Triplett deserves a mention at least.
LB Hoffman? Probably. Also Mark Stewart, Mason Foster and David Rill deserve a look.
CB McDuffie the best probably just tragically got wasted. Dana Hall otherwise? I vote Ray Horton.
I’d rather do an all-time all 22 than best at each position only in order to give more props to our greats. That does create issues around what is the formation, what is a position definition, etc, but more fun to try.
Offense:
1QB: Penix
1RB: McElhenny
2WR: Rome, Reggie
1TE: Bruener
FB/TB/H-back/TE2/WR3: no clue who to put here. I’ll go with Gaskin in a 2 back set and also motion him out to catch passes
2T: Kennedy, Mcgary
2G: Nick Harris and Chad Ward?
1C: Kruetz
Defense later, but picking a formation is worse there.

to answer your question maybe a few, but next year's Oregon team NOBODY.

for CB did Murphy do more in a UW uniform than McDuffie? McDuffie definitely a better pro but Byron doesn’t suck.
For finding 22 starters Vita has to be on the field next to Empterrman

Kaufman over Gaskin. Lincoln Kennedy at OL.
I’m hearing the 91 team wouldn’t have cracked the depth chart of any Oregon team the last two years
Hasn't Oregon out recruited UW for years by rankings? Seems like it
And yet
PGOS
Race Porter and it ain't close
PGOS x22. Good enough to start at everyone position on the field.

S Lawyer or Budda - don't forget Al Worley
I like Lincoln as the best OL ever.
Kevin Gogan OL
Rick Redman ILB (before my time but an all-timer per my dad)
Ronnie Holmes DT
Tim Peoples S (maybe not the greatest locker room guy, I'm not sure. But I always loved him as a player).
Guys that you have to include…
LB ~ Kelly… no question, one of the best players ever
RB ~ Greg Lewis
DB ~ Tommie Smith
Center
Ron Holmes
Everyone on the team loved having Kreutz as the bad man on the field, Cunningham was gold
Jarzinka ~ the swiss army knife even kicked a field goal as I recall

If I get time where I need to scratch my autistic itch in the coming days I might do like a whole all-time greatest roster or some shit.
Benji Olson at guard.
George Wilson
If no likeness in HS, get the fuck out of here
