There were 2 guysm a few years ahead of me in HS (and I rowed with their younger brothers) who went to Cal, really good HS rowers and eventually made Cal 2V and V4 in the 97-99 time frame, but no chance at the top boat as Gladstone got his guys in there to beat Washington.
International when I was rowing meant Canada. Calder was the obvious one, but think we had 2-3 Canucks in my freshman class. Cal had a bunch of guys from Europe by then.

Wait…we have two row peter puffers on this bored?
Affirmative.
Callahan would seemingly qualify as an elite international rower coming out of high school, what with a Gold at the junior World Championships.
I totally forgot he went to W&L. Note the L used to be another name. https://wlgeneralsathletics.com/michael-callahan-class-of-1992/
