His highlight video doesn't scream "two star" to me, but his offers were concerning, until I found out he has only played football for one season. Pretty impressive for a his first time playing ball. -
Looks like the kind of player that TCU has spent the better part of 10+ years grabbing under Patterson that stays under the radar because of location, comes in and redshirts for a year to get a little bigger, stronger, and work on his technique, and then becomes a terror because his athleticism is too much for most OL.

I hope we can make some inroads into Houston. It's a big fucking city with a lot of talent. Bringing up Aiyewa, I still am pissed he didn't redshirt. By the end of his junior season, you could tell the light went on for him.

I TBS'd his HUDL video. Stop reading now and flag my post.
He doesn't appear to be a superb athlete with great hips. I'd confirm with Irishdawg before concluding that for certain though. He stands up and looks pretty unsure out there, which makes sense in light of the info that he's a new player. Big guy though and a good project. -
Texas didn't want him anyway.
-
I watched his HUDL last week too, was not impressed at all. But now hearing that it was his first year of football it makes a lot more sense. Good project to work on like you said. Will be curious to see how his film looks this year compared to last.chuck said:I TBS'd his HUDL video. Stop reading now and flag my post.

What I saw was that he looked like he had some decent size and some decent speed ... he showed some decent recognition on some plays and a motor that didn't stop even though the play went away from him (which a lot of HS players lack in is playing 100% regardless of where the play is going). You could definitely tell that he was raw from a technique perspective and relied upon his athleticism to get himself off of blocks ... credit to him in that even with being that raw that he showed the ability to get off numerous blocks and still make plays.
Definite RS candidate which is perfectly fine for him. Let's see some tape from this year (8 sacks so far isn't too bad) as well as his development once he gets coached up. You can teach technique but often hard to find athleticism. -
Fuckin Hillsduck thinks I have no feelings at all. TBSers are sensitive by nature.

More evidence that our new coach has no idea how to compete for offseason championships.
This will decimate our average star rating and pretty much put us out of contention before the offseason even starts..

All 3 of the lineman Peterman has signed in this class are 6'6+
This is going to be a mean o-line in a few years -
That offensive line will average a weight of 310 lbs across the line...PostGameOrangeSlices said:All 3 of the lineman Peterman has signed in this class are 6'6+

His film is not that impressive. He is raw, stands straight up, and not very explosive. That being said, he doesn't quit on plays, and can run in open field.
Regardless, Petermen believes there is enough there to warrant an offer so WTF. -

Roberts, Hilbers, Adams, Ossai, etc. These boys have the attitude and are ready to rumble.PurpleBaze said:

Article breaking down the good and bad of Rice, and does mention his improvement so far in his senior year.

Stop it. Leave the bullshit impact reports to Eklund. Nobody has a fucking clue about this kid. The kid is from Houston area and plays in a 5A league. I doubt that nobody knows about him. Players from LA get overlooked every year too. Pete Carroll told the story about recruiting guys from Bobby Wagner's high school and he had no idea who Wagner even was. It happens everywhere. UW and Petersen obviously see something they like. Leave it at that.Tequilla said:Looks like the kind of player that TCU has spent the better part of 10+ years grabbing under Patterson that stays under the radar because of location, comes in and redshirts for a year to get a little bigger, stronger, and work on his technique, and then becomes a terror because his athleticism is too much for most OL.

The kid has a high motor, loves football and loves to play football. Petersen wants to see that desire more than stars, 7on7 tournaments or 40 times. To him, the motivation in the player to get better every week and to play at the highest level is what makes him 96-13 as a coach.RoadDawg55 said:Petersen obviously sees something they like.
Everything will come down to coaching, conditioning and getting him ready to play at the Pac-12 level. -
I'm hearing he bleeds purple and gold. Enough said on that.

Everyone should be in LIPO mode with Petersen recruiting. We know NOTHING yet besides a couple players in the secondary this year.
Things I do like so far compared to Sark though.
- More emphasis on beef
- The linemen he gets are big too. Not these 6'2 215 "quick" guys who get mauled.
- In state recruiting has imrpoved (he fixed the Bellevue pipeline which is the 1 school you want to be able to recruit at will)
- The offers of some of the recruits he gets is more impressive compartively to Sark who was usually only beating out shitty Cal, shitty Arizona, and WSU regularly.
Still need time to see if these players actually develop. If they don't then he gets the same shit flipped at him that Sark did. -

The play they broke down is a good example. Even though the RB knocked him on his ass, he still got up and tackled the guy on the sideline after he was able to make it only about 5 yards.

There was a big improvement in his JR year vs. his SR year videos I saw on Hudl.
espnFS is usually behind on recruiting but their "insider" scouting report is pretty detailed and they have him as a 3-star guy who is 6'3" (I've seem him listed at 6'2" to 6'4" so 6'3" makes the most sense).
Perhaps the biggest thing is that he won't be forced to play just for the hell of it like many players were under Losingham and Sloppy Steve. In front of him at "Buck" in 2015 will at least be (in terms of 2015 eligibility): RS-SR Jarrett Finau (6'3" 261 lbs), RS-JR Psalm Wooching (6'5" 225 lbs), and RS-Frosh Jaylen Johnson (6'2" 254 lbs).
So he can RS for a year, play special teams as a RS-Frosh, and then compete with Jaylen Johnson for the "Buck" position as a RS-Soph in 2017. -
