Are we gonna pretend that Lanning wasn’t a candidate for the Alabama job?
I mean it’s fine to say he never interviewed but it’s fairly absurd to suggest that he wasn’t approached about the position.

If DeBoer would've said no (he wouldn't have, nor would he have turned down Ohio St so don't twist) then Alabama's next choice was Norvell who also wouldn't have said no to them.
So pretending that Lanning is sought after is just quooking. It just is.

When a rep contacts you or your agent and gauges your interest, in which you don’t give any. Why would they offer you?
it doesn’t mean Alabama didn’t have initial interest. It’s pretty common place that you actually need to go through an interview process and some form of negotiation before an actual offer is proposed.
