Assuming you put the reservation on your credit card, call the credit card company to dispute it. I rented a car in Hawaii and hit a pothole blowing out the. Ended up needing a tow truck to come change the tire - normal, non rental car cost would be $350 maybe but because it was a rental, it ended up being almost $900.
Tried claiming it on my insurance but that kinda damage isn’t covered. The adjuster asked if I paid for it with a credit card and if so, to contact the issuing bank. Bank covered it for me. -
