NIL has changed the game -
Hard to believe some college football players (maybe not 1st or 2nd rounders) may end up staying in college because they can make more in NIL than in NFL wages.

It doesn’t make sense if you are in a great situation, like Washington to leave with big bag money on the table unless you are a day one or two pick.RoadTrip said:Hard to believe some college football players (maybe not 1st or 2nd rounders) may end up staying in college because they can make more in NIL than in NFL wages.

there is no fucking way people are actually going to pony up 20mil to keep a kid in college. that money isn’t real

Yeah I dont believe thisWilburHooksHands said:there is no fucking way people are actually going to pony up 20mil to keep a kid in college. that money isn’t real

That's what I've been saying. It makes no sense from an economis perspective. The ROI just isn't there. I get that some of the money comes from boosters and sponsors, but who the fuck is going to pony up $20mil for one year of a wide receiver? Maybe you could justify that for a QB, but if he's that good, he's probably going round 1. The NIL bubble is going to burst eventually.WilburHooksHands said:there is no fucking way people are actually going to pony up 20mil to keep a kid in college. that money isn’t real

I don't believe it, probably tricks for clicks.

I paid more money to go to Ohio State and Penn State games than I paid to go to Eagles games. I was able to sit basically on the field last December for $100 to see the Dolphins. Someone is making a shitload of money for college Football.

For just being handed cash you are probably right. But a world could exist where you are a more marketable as a college superstar for branding purposes at a few select programs than you are as a rookie playing for the Arizona cardinals or raiders for example.WilburHooksHands said:there is no fucking way people are actually going to pony up 20mil to keep a kid in college. that money isn’t real

It's someone making it say something that isn't being said. First round money means the equivalent of what would he lose by delaying the NFL for a year (like around $8-9 million for the third pick, if Harrison is in fact that). They're not giving him the signing bonus, he'll still get his signing bonus the next season.NeGgaPlEaSe said:

Wilbur's right there's no world they're offering him $20 million to stay and this alleged NIL offer isn't even claiming they would. -
The math works for Harrison to stay if this is all true.dnc said:

3rd pick got $22m upfront, and then pretty small base the rest of the contract which he can't renegotiate for 3 years.
So if he stays he gets $20m NIL, and next year gets another ~$22m signing bonus. Yes he gets to renegotiate a year earlier if he goes, but having $20m more upfront probably more than offsets that.

Jake Browning’s NFL earnings

If you're on the Browning plan of barely hanging on in the league you're not getting rich.
However, if you're on the Harrison Jr trajectory, delaying the NFL delays your second contract by 1 year. It would take more than 20mil to get me to do that given how quickly the windows close for getting paid in that league unless you are a QB.
Whoever made that is just fighting for clicks. -
They're not giving him $20 million to play one more year at OSUBob_C said:

I agree he isn't getting that. Point is that $20m is enough to make it make sense for him.dnc said:
