I don't disagree. Big 12 QBs weren't very good this year. The OU game is an outlier, though, if you know anything about that game, its setting and history. Gabriel hurt Texas with his legs moreso than his arm, save the last drive where Texas lost its mind in coverage. The really bizarre games were Houston - and that kid shredded Texas when he was at Tech, too - TCU, and KSU. Texas got out to big leads and all of them abandoned their previous plan and started slinging it around. PK sat back in his shitty shell and they all came back. The last two weeks against Tech and OSU, they started pressing more and dominated. Good luck with that against Odunze. Penix is a different animal and a bad matchup for Texas. I honestly would have rather faced a Michigan team that would want to pound it between the tackles.

Nobody has really been able to run on Texas this year, save for the first quarter against Bama and OU's qb got loose. A lot of those yards you listed were in garbage time or skewed by one long run. The DTs Sweat and Murphy have been amazing and Texas has been able to play basically the entire season with a light box because of it. I would be surprised if Washington can run it consistently and if they can, the game is essentially over. I think you're better off spreading Texas out and spamming the crossing and underneath stuff, then going deep once the safeties creep up. That's how Texas has been hurt this year. Lots of injuries in the defensive backfield have contributed to that, but they should be healthy (or at least healthier) by game time. Mostly nagging type stuff vs season ending.
Oline in the Big 12 typically suck, but the refs make up for it by letting them hold every play. It cuts both ways because I don't really know how good the Texas oline is, either. K-State probably has the best oline and running game in the conference outside of Texas, and the Horns blew them up. That game was close mainly because our backup QB shit down his leg after getting a big lead, but once KSU abandoned the run and started spreading it out, they moved the ball. Last year, Washington dominated the trenches in the Alamobowl. Forget about all the other bullshit in that game (dropped passes, etc.), it felt like Texas got manhandled on both lines.
We know what a Kwat defense with dominant DT's looks like in the middle.
UW has the ability to run on the edges as well though and our WR's run blocking is highly under rated. Our O-line is athletic for being big boys and pulls really well to create space on the perimeters to run away from those DT's.
Penix can run too but it's only going to be to keep the defense honest or to pickup a critical 3rd down here and there.
Wouldn't surprise me to see a modest first half total for run yds but then the average yds per carry to creep up in the 3rd qtr and break out in the 4th.

Only seen bits and pieces of UT games this year, but it seems like the pass game has a lot of similarities with Oregon. Mostly pretty short, high % passes and the skill guys are good enough to break them for long gains. Does Ewers throw well/accurately downfield and I just missed it?
Deep ball has been very inconsistent for Ewers. He has thrown some absolute dimes mixed in with some "who the hell is he throwing that to" passes. But Texas is going to take its deep shots. Either way, the offense is much better this year. Ewers is definitely in command and they have more weapons. They really haven't missed a beat since the star RB Brooks blew out his knee. Biggest issue has been red zone and short yardage. They've gotten more creative over the past few weeks though and its gotten better.
Texas is similar to Oregon in offensive capability but Ewers is a much better downfield passer than Nix.

If you really watch what UW does offensively in detail, you'll notice that the run game is a supplement to the passing game
The offense does a ton of shifting pre-snap and it's with a purpose whether it's trying to isolate a matchup, force a change to a defensive call, or something as simple as just getting the defenders out of position.
The picture here isn't great but it will do the trick for illustrative purposes ...
UW's primary 2 run plays are a toss sweep and a counter ... what makes them so difficult to defend is that they go in opposite directions and it really forces challenges on the defensive possession.
Here, Oregon is lined up at the top of the formation with a 3 versus 3 situation and over-indexing itself at the bottom half of the formation protecting against the counter and any drags/crossers/motions across the formation. Based on the formation you can almost guarantee that Oregon's slanting in the run game towards the top of the formation.
At the snap, the toss element basically torpedoes any of the backside pursuit given the location and with the pulling linemen you find that UW's at a 6 vs 4 advantage in blocking ... that's going to be a WIN each and every time.
The only chance that Oregon has to defend the play is for the CB defending Rome to instantly attack the edge and get in before the pulling OL can get in front ... problem with that is in that formation if you do that then you're giving Rome a free release for a slant/post to the back end of the endzone wide open.
I can go pull any number of these types of plays and highlight that Washington's run game is a supplement to the pass game and looks to attack in favorable numbers.
The other area where these type of plays are going to cause problems is that the consensus way to slow Penix down is to blitz through the G-C-G gaps and put pressure in his face and try to take advantage of his release point being relatively lower than it should be. If you're showing a middle blitz, then it's also creating opportunities for the UW offense to outflank on the edge with numbers.
It's an offense that is going to consistently cause problems in that they'll more often than not get you to declare what you're trying to take away and what you're giving up ... when they are operating at their top end it's taking the easy plays and operating very efficiently.
