Worst 12-0 team of my lifetime....

An impartial person would have the Ducks as 2 touchdown favorites. They have been playing great. We have been playing terribly. But, I'll say it again, winning ugly is harder than winning easy. Polk needs to get over the yips, Grubb needs to clean some shit up, and Penix needs to get out of his own head, then go play them tough as hell. Win and it's a magical season team of destiny type shit, lose and it's the UCLA game that we still bitch about 30 years later. Either way it ends in Vegas.
No matter what I have enjoyed the hell out of this season. 12-0 is fun as shit in the moment. Beats a 7 win ceiling under Sark.

I'll probably off myself if we lose, gladly volunteering as Friday sacrifice tribute.

Yeah, I have considered the loss scenario and it goes up toward the top of the all time bad beats for the program. I mean we are playing for the playoffs. All the marbles, against our most hated rival. Even with a loss we still end up in NY6 bowel and a chance to hoist REAL hardware and WIN something that matters, but it will somehow still feel like failure with what could have been.Doogles said:I'll probably off myself if we lose, gladly volunteering as Friday sacrifice tribute.
We need Penix to have a "This is Sparta" moment and will this team to victory. -
Also, why the fuck are UW and Oregon taking partial shares from the B1G? We are 2 of the 3 best teams they have in the whole fucking conference this year. They should be paying us more than Rutgers and Maryland year fucking 1. I'd renegotiate. This is bullshit.
-
It all depends how they compete against Oregon.
If they get blown out this whole season takes a different look. -
Yeah then the only salvation is to go win the Peach Bowl or whatever the fuck against Texas.Kingdome_Urinals said:It all depends how they compete against Oregon.

They had leverage. We’re good, but we were in danger of being stuck in the PAC and having to raid the mountain west to have a full conference. We bring a lot to the table, but the B1G still held all the cards. I agree it’s bullshit, especially considering SC and UCLA get full shares, but I get why it happened.Swaye said:Also, why the fuck are UW and Oregon taking partial shares from the B1G? I get it to but fuck them anyway. UCLA is fucking garbage and will be forever.EsophagealFeces said:

UW and Oregon are on the road to relegation. oregon will probably survive though, because they will keep caring about football. cant say the same about washington.Swaye said:Also, why the fuck are UW and Oregon taking partial shares from the B1G? The Sparta moment should’ve happened a month ago. The team has been in a general malaise for 6-7 games in a row now. Really tough ask to just turn it on all of a sudden.

Am I being whooshed? Football Prez, Football AD, winning football coach. UW started caring about football again just in tim. Get that NIL pot robust and UW football will be in with the best of college football.phineas said:

This. This is the most serious I have seen UW be about football in decades.theknowledge said:

If they lose next week I just hope the NFL guys play the NY6 game. I don't care who it's against I just want to see the healthy version of this team one last time. I feel like since the second half of Oregon these guys are just gutting it all out. Mad respect for winning every game but the team that was up 29-18 on Oregon on the verge of putting the game away was special and what we've seen the last 7 weeks ain't that team.Swaye said:

So after smoking copius amounts of weed and having a philosophical reflection last night I can't decide if this team is one of 2 things:
1. Really talented but playing down to the level of the opponents
2. Actually not that great but coaches have gotten the absolute most of them this season
I am sure the answer is somewhere in the middle but extremes are fun. It's hard to argue that they don't have talent with guys like Odunze who should be a top 10 pick at this point, Faunty (I like to call him that), and Trice who could all be 1st round picks. Defense has a few dudes too like Tuli, Breuner, and Muhammed Jihad... but the overall depth feels extremely thin and lacking compared to the other top tier teams.
At the end of the day this team is 12-0 and that is all that matters at this point. Just have to take it one game at a time from here. Worst case scenario is a NY6 bowl game at this point against a good opponent. Best case scenario being a miracle run to the natty. If I am getting upset over that, then it is a GOOD place to be. -
Hard to win without your QB and best WR not playing. I mean I can't imagine either one or possibly 2-3 others play in a meaningless bowel game.Swaye said:

Most don't want to admit this but years like this at UW only come around once or twice in 30 years. Being in the B10 won't help that in fact it will be worse.phineas said:

What about Hawaii in 2007?

The way things will be next year UW can go 10-2 in a loaded B1G and probably make a 12 team playoff. Shit, at 9-3 and with the right wins and close losses they may have a shot some years. It’s a new era and I think UW is poised to be a consistent part of it. Get in the playoff, get on a heater and see what happens. This “gotta be perfect or it’s over” bullshit is done.RoadTrip said:

I remember when everyone with a platform was saying that this UW team could be better than last year and still go 9 or 10 wins because the schedule was that much harder.
Now these losers pretend like running the table isn't good enough. Even with unforeseen games like Arizona on the road as the #3 team in the conference. -
I don’t see anyone pissed off the team is 12-0.
I see a lot of people pissed off that they’ve had to start taking antihypertensives and beta blockers just to function in society.
A lot of UW fans have never been through anything like this before and our bodies and minds are unprepared.
If everyone was like, “yay team, we good” I’d be more worried about Husky fans.
The fact that peoples’ critical thinking is still intact is a sign of sanity. Even if many of the takes seem insane. -
Good post and yes the answer is in the middle. Combine that with key guys battling injuries (Penix for some weeks now, McMillan until yesterday, and DJ's knee may be barking at him again).CuntWaffle said:So after smoking copius amounts of weed and having a philosophical reflection last night I can't decide if this team is one of 2 things:

For as poorly as Lake and his staff recruited / whiffed on guys, I can't believe the depth isn't worse. It's a testament to DeBoer and his staff having a great eye for non 5-star talent in the high school and portal ranks. For instance, starting Center Matteo Mele is lost for the season and RS-Frosh Brailsford steps right in. Or Cam Davis going out for the season and Dillon Johnson stepping right in. McMillan getting hurt saw Bernard and Denzel Boston step up.
On D, Tuli has been banged up (only played a few snaps in the 4th quarter yesterday but will probably be good for 25 against Oregon) and thankfully Tuitele and Bandes are left from CP's last class. Jayvon Parker has played some snaps and looked decent enough as a true soph.
Trice may have gotten a stinger so RS-Frosh Lance Holtzclaw came in for him....LH promptly sacked Ward on his first play in. -
Speaking of Holtzclaw … hi!

I said that on Fagbook like four months ago and I was assured by a Doog (who doesn't like me much) that Cohen did a great job, and we'd get a full share in 2035 or whenever the hell it is.Swaye said:Also, why the fuck are UW and Oregon taking partial shares from the B1G? They finally gave McMillan the screen pass treatment to get him pass the yips. Time to do it with Polk.

That’s what college football is. (Was)
The absolute glory and utter suicidal disgust is what made it what it is.
The playoffs will be fine. I’m looking forward to it in some respect. But it’s not our game.
