All you see on the picket lines are very few "b" level actors and a bunch of no name writers and off screen individuals. Just like in real life, the rat elites could give a shit.
The following story is hilarious. Sag aftra has allowed "A" lister's movies to continue to be filmed and it pisses off the lower tiered "B" level actors like sarah silverman.
If ever there was an art imitating life moment, this is it. The greed and the complete disdain for the little people by the elites that is on display here is fascinating and fulfilling to watch. Everything we knew about the cesspool that is hollywood is there for everyone to see and it is as entertaining as hell. Actor-comedian Sarah Silverman is confused about the large volume of projects that have been granted interim agreements by SAG-AFTRA to film during the actors strike. And she is not alone.
“I feel f*cking pissed off, and I know I just must not be understanding something. There are like 40 movies being made right now,” Silverman said in a video posted on Instagram Thursday night. “When SAG joined the strike, it’s, ‘Movie stars aren’t making movies for you anymore, now what are you going to do?’ Well, they’re making movies. What the f*ck?”

There are 160,000 members in the Screen Actors Guild and they are all choosing this hill to die on for the benefit of their few elite. Not unlike the new collective bargaining agreement for the NBA players in which the players "decided" that the top 50 - 60 players in the league should get the big bucks and then have the rest of the rooster filled with league minimum.

Breaking my Tug cherry to convo on this since I'm somewhat connected to this stuff. I wasn't quite good enough for one of the striking unions. One of my big gripes with this is the cute/clever signs/social media cute posting of it. If you're in a dire situation be fucking serious.
Writers are 100 million times fucked over in the industry. However, the bottom line of beating AI and shit will come down to the consumer. If people stop wasting money on horribly written shit then AI writing won't take off or will die. Streaming and residuals and shit is different too with TV. Network and cable sold advertising and people weren't fast forwarding ads etc. I assume that money was a lot bigger than it is now. -
I got the Taylor Sheridan app also known as Paramount Plus. I pay the extra 6 bucks for no commercials
On regular broadcast I record everything to ff the commercials
Including sports. Add in replay and they are unwatchable

The big money was paid by the cable companies for content, most of which was never watched. As million cut cable (and satellite TV) it's getting replaced by much cheaper streaming services which mostly are losing billions of dollars except for Netflix as they tried for market share. Everyone is now cutting content. The Obamas and Kate and Harry were getting millions for content no one watched. They both have been cut. The demand for writers is dropping. Historic shows like CSI or NCIS had 22 episodes. Now it's 8 to 10 episodes and the viewership is totally split. When your shows are losing money, tough not to cut costs. When the writer's are told to write woke crap and write another bland spin-off then there will be even less money. Disney's woke Willow reboot was totally abandoned by Disney so they could write off all their capital costs and the show was taken of the network. Not a lot of streaming residual money to be make in that environment.

I think Netflix is finding trouble. It's why they cracked down on multiple people using the same account. Money in media never came from subs, it was always from corporate advertisers and they'll never be able to replicate that. With movies I've heard they're starting production on movies without scripts for comic book crap because they know people will still see it.
