Do my eyes deceive me?

Did I see that?
Has my alma mater completely lost any sense of identity? First we copy Oregon right down to the shinny helmets and now we're going full flag fagg?
Jesus. I hope Peterman can beat that out of our collective asses.

Winning cures everything.

On their way to the big game in Athens.

It doesn't seem like that big of a deal. Copying Oregon was, is, and will always be sad and pathetic.

I hope they don't have any trouble at the border. Greece has not been friendly lately.topdawgnc said:On their way to the big game in Athens.

Other teams are starting to copy Oregon. Their marketing has been effective, so why not try it?Fire_Marshall_Bill said:It doesn't seem like that big of a deal. Copying Oregon was, is, and will always be sad and pathetic.
Waving a flag like some bottom-feeding Cuog is just pathetic, IMHO. If our fans were going to do it, they should have jumped on the chance way early. Now that dipshit Cuogs are getting some PR, some Doogs have decided that they'll show up and wave a Husky flag behind the Corso/Herbie/Fowler lemon party. -
lol
whoever brought that flag needs to be castrated.
Any other school no big deal - but if UW EVER thinks that anything Coog is a good idea, then you have given up all the gains you've made over them for the last 120 years -
It's kind of corny and dumb, but there are a lot of other schools' fans that do it. Oregon's marketing, while effective, is crass, annoying, tacky etc... we do have kind of a tradition, or maybe had. We should never be a follower. Of them. Ever.PurpleBaze said:

It's all about the Benjamins. If the AD thinks they can generate revenue this way, then they would be stupid not to come up with a bunch of uniform combos. I don't think that tradition stuff matters much any more. It's about "what have you done with me lately". Maybe that is the result of the short attention span most people have any more.Fire_Marshall_Bill said:It's kind of corny and dumb, but there are a lot of other schools' fans that do it. Like I mentioned in a different thread, I'm a middle-aged white guy. I'm not a fan of the new uniforms, but I understand why the AD is doing it. I don't think the younger generation really cares that much about keeping uniforms simple, etc. They want to see the flavor du jour.
Like it or not, the Ducks have been kicking ass, while our program has been shitting on the field. I used to be totally against emulating Oregon. But, I have changed my mind over the past couple of years. I'll even make a confession here... I like the Ducks' helmets. I don't care much about some of their ugly uniforms, but the helmets kick ass. The shiny wings design is cool. -

to me you have it backwards firemarshall. at least copying Oregon was contemplated to lead to something good, i.e., better recruits, better offense and thus more winning.
the flag thing is something that fits the cewgs and in that way it's kind of satirically funny. for us, it comes off as pathetic. to me at least. -
it may have started out that way. there is no way to really measure this, but it seems to me the only people annoyed with Oregon's "marketing", whatever that is, are grumpy old husky fans.Fire_Marshall_Bill said:

everyone does now what Oregon has been doing for a while. trend setting > recounting how good Gill Dobie was, the latter about which I don't give two shits.
i still say the flag thing is a good fit for programs like WSU, and not for us. or maybe i'm just wrong about that now. -
It's not a good fit for anyone.creepycoug said:

You have no idea the damage done to UW fans after Crazy Larry and the Army of Dewgs.
It will take time to re-recruit the old elitist UW fans who'd never allow such low shenanigans. -
I don't think it's really necessary... when you have a good coach like Chris Peterson. With guys like Willingham and Steve, maybe it helps a little. I get that it's about money and selling yourself, but to me it's not what Husky football is about. I'm fine with having a home jersey and road jersey, then having a couple of alts, but it's getting to the point where it's different clown suit every week. I'm sure they're doing some white-out, black-out or purple out too and probably passing out thundersticks... Husky football doesn't need any of that shit...creepycoug said:
