Ben Hurr is certainly not a pussy. I'm just surprised he's still around.

Presented without comment...linebacker recruits at UW under Seven (hint...the first half never played a meaningful or productive snap at UW, and the first 13 didn't use up their eligibility):

    Tim Tucker
    Andru Pulu
    Garret Gilliland
    Victor Burnett
    Brent Williams
    Darius Waters
    Cooper Pelluer
    Corey Waller
    Matthew Lyons
    Blake Rodgers
    Ryan McDaniel
    Chris Young
    Josh Shirley
    Prince Fuimaono
    Jamaal Kearse
    Thomas Tutogi (JC)
    Scott Lawyer
    Travis Feeney
    Shaq Thompson
    John Timu
    Keishawn Bierria
    Azeem Victor
    Connor O'brien
    Sean Constantine

Pretty bad list. There is a reason why Shaq, Timu, and Feeney all started as freshman. Timu was absolutely dreadful as a freshman too, but there was nobody to replace him.

The list proves that the inevitable uproar over this guy's commitment is stupid. He's a decent recruit. Petersen is filling up on guys he can get right now. There are a few big time guys in the list, but most of them are probably in the bottom half of the class guys. The good players wait until after the season, and there are more guys we have never heard of that will suddenly show interest.

A little short, but he passes the eye test, even if he's from a church school. He looks like a KGB hitman.

The church schools down in California mean business when it comes to football, not sure where the bolded is coming from.

Mater Dei, De La Salle, Servite, etc.

The fact that you don't get the church school joke is much funnier.

Seems small for LB. He also plays RB, maybe the staff sees him as a safety in college. Ivy league offers, so he's smart, couldn't hurt to have a smart dude on the team. Assuming he doesn't play like a potato that is.

After watching his highlights, what stands out to me is his instincts and effort. Honestly reminds me of the type of guy Stanford would recruit, which is a good thing.

Snippet from San Jose Mercury News :
Burr-Kirven is a force on defense, known for huge hits, quickness and a never-ending motor. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, he has been timed at 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash. "That's pretty fast," Lavorato said. That speed coupled with Burr-Kirven's love for contact make his hits hard to miss.

"That's kind of why I play defense," Burr-Kirven said. "I love to go out and hit people. I've always had that, since I first started playing Pop Warner."

Teammate Andrew Segre called Burr-Kirven's hits "amazing," but added, "The biggest thing about him is desire. He wants it more than anyone else on the team. He works really, really hard."
