Prince was a better musical talent, Michael had better songs. I decided to not let alleged chimo activity be admitted into evidence

I like a few songs on Thriller. They're the only Michael songs I'll sit through.

Prince could have stopped after Purple Rain and I would've still voted for him without a second thought.

The top 5 songs for both artists are in the same ballpark. Prince actually wrote and composed all the music which makes me give him the nod compared to MJ. Prince has more good songs than MJ top to bottom.

I love MJ. I went down a rabbit hole on Thriller a few years back and my god it's incredible. Quincy Jones has to be up there on the list of "best producers" in modern music.

    MJ's pre-pubescent voice was impressive.

If you're forcing me to listen to one, MJ has a far better catalogue of music. Not even close.

    Disagree.

MJ has one all timer LP and a couple good ones.

But at the end of the day his greatness is overblown. HOF talent - YES. Mt Rushmore - NO.

This. I’ve always thought Prince sucked and he’s kind of boring. Music, performance, star quality… It’s MJ.

Both were insanely talented, and were weird MF’ers…I own one album between the two, and that dictates my vote…

    Thriller sold 67 million alone

The first time I heard Off the Wall my rock albums started gathering dust. Spent the 80s on dance and funk

“Off the Wall” is MJ’s best album. Although, “Thriller” is the greatest crossover album of all time.

Prince's strongest argument over MJ is this song. Or it's the biggest mark against him. Whatever.

Since this is HH we're talking about on field performance and MJ is a legend amongst legends. Off the field obviously Prince couldn't have a larger advantage but on field MJ wins it rather easily. And I have mad respect for Prince's talent and especially the ping pong and streetball skills.

Prince might have been more talented but MJ was the superior performer with the superior playlist, and ultimately that's what matters here.

No one is disputing the brilliance of MJ on Off the Wall or Thriller (although I think Bad was a bit of a letdown) or the commercial success.

My contention is that if you put Prince's complete anthology next to MJ's, Prince's overall body of work is superior. MJ had 2 albums in the 80's. Prince had 9. He was just more prolific.

1999, Purple Rain, Let's Go Crazy are all in the same universe those songs.

    God Bless DDY...

I'm not a MJ hater, but MJ had Off the Wall - which was a bunch of great disco jams with the help of Rod Temperton from Heatwave and our own QJ.

Rock with You was one of the most underrated jams until fucking Justin Timberlake copied it and then it blew again.

Okay, then he has Thriller. Thriller is obviously a really good record... so, no issues there.

    Okay - what else?

Bad? Errrr... Smooth Criminal is a good song, The Way you Make me Feel is good, Leave me Alone is pretty fucking good, but Dirty Diana is fucking retarded. Bad is embarrassing. Largely by this point he'd reached self-parody with his 'chamon' and grunts and shit. You can't listen to one of these songs with out him grunting all over it... what the fuck?

The whole 'I'm actually tough' thing was ill-conceived to say the least.

This song is basically a little 60s Bubblegum pop number that is closer to Spanky and Our Gang or something than a number where you should be hanging out and pelvic thrusting with dancers dressed up to look like crips.

    Everything here is true.

    Yet still better than Prince.
