What’s the worst song on your favorite album?

We talked about this on the pod. I through out Escape from Ride the Lightning only because James Hetfield hates it. I like it though

I don't have a favorite album, per se...it changes from week to week, sometimes day to day. My M.O. historically is to hear a song, buy the album, and the song that originally spurred me to buy the album becomes my least-favorite, due to over saturation, self-or-radio induced, and finding other great, less-popular songs on the album. I have gone decades not listening to very popular, Mt. Rushmore-level songs because of this, which drives my wife crazy when I turn the channel every time Stairway to Heaven or Smoke on the Water comes on. I will listen to every song on both of those albums, but not those, and many others as well...
WATBS, my album is Excitable Boy, and the song is Werewolves of London...It's a great song, but I just don't want to hear it anymore.
Great question, El K, a superb Friday night mind-fuck... -
dark side of the moon - $$$$$$
not my favorite album but to me it is out of place -
“I just wanna see his face” off Exile On Main Street.
Really the only non essential cut on the greatest rock LP ever recorded. -
My favorite album changes all the time. I'll list a few that come to mind, without the album names since everyone probably knows them:
Maxwell's Silver Hammer
Junk Head
Long Hot Summer Night
Vampire Blues
Kinky Reggae
All albums that I listened to today.

Shake a Leg.
Wasn’t any bad songs or really “worst” songs but probably worst for
Me on the awesome album of “Back in Black” by AC/DC -
Dark side is one of my favorite albums. I do like money, but I agree it doesn't fitLebamDawg said:dark side of the moon - $$$$$$

Well, I’ve got too much to live for and they put up a new jump fence.RaceBannon said:

Alas, I love a tasteful synthesizer on a rock record.
All of my love on In through the out door was great. -
I like Im Gonna Crawl and Carouselambra (sp?) too.YellowSnow said:

Iron Gland off of AIC’s Dirt album is unnecessary to an otherwise perfect record
-
I don’t have a favorite album, but I can name a few songs that prevent an album from being “perfect,” as in every song is good. A couple examples:
“The Crunge” - Led Zeppelin “Houses of the Holy”
“Four Sticks” - Led Zeppelin “Led Zeppelin IV”
-
I am somewhat similar, especially those two songs, but I still always listen to parts of them.Fishpo31 said:I don't have a favorite album, per se...it changes from week to week, sometimes day to day. For “Stairway to Heaven” I now always skip forward to at least when Bonzo joins in. Sometimes all the way to the setup of the guitar solo.
With “Smoke on the Water” I’ll listen from beginning until just after the music lead in into the second verse. There’s something about Ian Paice’s energy on drums that always sucks me in, especially on “Highway Star.”

Ian Paice is a powerhouse, and very underrated, IMO…Purple_Pills said:

I find with a lot of the most over played a million times on KZOK stuff, I can't listen to it in the car or with my ear buds, but putting the same tracks on the turntable and some good hi fi reinvigorates the stuff.
I hate Dark Side in the car, but on my stereo I still find it incredible engaging. -

But if you can't get behind Drop Dead Legs as #1, you're basically an IROC-Z owner from Kent. -
IROC-Z owners from Kent basically constitute the stereotypical DLR Van Halen fan in the 80's, and I am totally in for that.YellowSnow said:

Matter of fact, if you were of legal driving age and didn't own an IROC-Z in the 80's I would go so far as saying you're not a real DLR Van Halen fan. -
For sure.BleachedAnusDawg said:

Feeling Good on Muse's Origin of Symmetry album.
They included it because it's the singer/guitarist's mom's favorite song. -
So back in my childhood, Old Man @YellowSnow owned a smaller Chevrolet / Oldsmobuick dealership. Normally, he drove Corvettes in them days, but one day the Vette was getting services or something so he drove home an IROC-Z off the lot. Man, those things were underpowered pieces of shit.BleachedAnusDawg said:

Yeah, pretty gutless until the 5.7 came out, although there were different levels of power in the 5.0 engine depending on trim level.
Fun fact about the Vettes of that era is that Buick had the fastest car under the GM umbrella with the Grand National / Turbo T / GNX. I owned 1987 Turbo T for several years. -
It's crazy looking back how gutless the mid 80's Chevy small blocks were. My Dad's 1984 Vette had a 5.7 putting out 210 HP and 0- 60 in 7.0 secs.BleachedAnusDawg said:Yeah, pretty gutless until the 5.7 came out, although there were different levels of power in the 5.0 engine depending on trim level.

My big, heavy ass Toyota Canyonero has a 5.7 liter IForce V-8 has 383 HP and does zero to 60 in 7.2.

I think they started to taper off after 77…2 friends of mine had 77 Zs, and they kicked ass
-
The Z28 (Camaro), like all American muscle, went limp-dick after '74. Dark tims from then through the late-80's.
Nowadays, even the base Camaro turbo 4-cylinder would kick ass on almost any muscle car of yesteryear save for the big 396's, 440's, etc. -
Easily. When we were in HI last fall we had the shitty base model Mustang covetable which I think has an inline 4 with like 310 HP. 0-60 around 5 secs. It was fast as shit.BleachedAnusDawg said:The Z28 (Camaro), like all American muscle, went limp-dick after '74. Dark tims from then through the late-80's.
