Nike has always jumped in the middle of controversy.
Barkley
Woods
Kaepernick
More so it seems lately, but the stock price has always shown that the company isn’t run by dummies when it comes to selling apparel.
That said, shares down since this “announcement”.

As a white guy I liked the Barkley ad and thought it was true. Kids role model should be their parentsthechatch said:Nike has always jumped in the middle of controversy.

I'm a well known Tiger honk
Kaep is irrelevant to me
I'm no longer in the demographic anyone cares about but neither blacks or whites are down with this trans stuff
That may explain the dip -
I quit in the mid 2000s. It was because of Fill, but now there's all the woke nonsense. I was tempted to buy some black Monarchs because most shoes suck now but I resisted.BleachedAnusDawg said:I quit buying Nike several years ago. Nothing's changed with me.

Skechers or die, bitches.Comfy AF.
Hey Dudes are pretty soft on the feet too but strictly summer wear. They have little air holes in the soul and sometimes water seeps in.
Clearly, not for exercise/training. Fuck that shit.

Woods wasn't a controversy. No one cares about his personal life.
Kaepernick was just a meh thing overall.
But trending this way it does fuck even the biggest companies in the long run. -
Kinda disagree. Kaepernick getting the Nike contract was a big deal at the time. Front page news.haie said:

In the world of golf, Nike keeping Tiger after the affair and then a DUI was definitely controversial.
I don’t see the trans thing being a real needle mover one way or another.
Now if Nike signed a world famous trans athlete to be the face of the company, that would be a big risk, but no such thing exists so this may not really hurt them that much.
The only Nike shoes I own are my runners. Otherwise it’s Allbirds for casual wear. Nike still makes better apparel than its contemporaries and I’m not gonna wear adidas or UA just because a tranny endorses their sports bras. 🤷♂️ -
The real difference being you are asking women to be inclusive to mentally men. Much easier sell than pitching that idea on lumber jacks and heavy equipment operators.thechatch said:

So it seems like we basically agree, but still.

I only meant that this would be a bigger deal/more controversial move for Nike if the tranny they had hocking their leggings was globally known.pawz said:

No one has ever heard of this person until he/she/it signed the Nike deal. If Serena Williams revealed she had a dick and was the face of Nike like Tiger Woods was, it’s a lot more market disruptive than I think this will ever turn out to be.
That’s all I meant. -
When Kaepernick happened I was already numb to all that shit plus I hate the NFL so I'll defer to you there.thechatch said:

Tiger I disagree, as someone who drowns in golf culture.
Golf can't live without him. Personal issues that many men go through, no one gave a fuck. I'm not sure he lost anything but his wife and a shitty video game license he didn't need.
Nike would never entertain dropping him. Ever. They'd drop Lebron before they drop him.
