They meant it and with Jeff Bower as HC, could at anyonetime, could beat anyone back in the 90’s… For a small college they were good. Actually got good players(think some may still be playing in the league) and South Pine Belt of MS is a hotbed of good athletes. All over. Excellent. And he could get em. (Brett Farve out of Kiln, MS(gulf coast) amongst others. The LB and DB out of pine belt area out of Bassfield, Jeff Davis County, …the Walter Payton’s out of Colombia, the Mount Olive Native, Steve McNair, …shit. The amount are endless here.
Anyway, Jeff Bower did a lot with a little at some point it wasn’t good enough for the powers at be for the Golden Eagles. And they’ve pretty much suffered every since they decided to try and do better.. This is the home of Ray Guy. I actually went to a football camp back in the day when he was there at Southern MS in Hattiesburg. -
