I have a nephew in the Marines. He's in flight training for advanced fighters. I hope he survives the bullshit.

FINALLY someone brought this up. I knew HH was going to die on his Dick’s Sporting Goods Hill, and I was wondering which one of you might bring up the fact that the current admin abandoned troops and handed an entire country along with tens of billions in equipment over to a terror organization.SFGbob said:Would any of you tell your 18 year old that they should sign up to serve under Biden after watching the Afghanistan withdrawl cluster fuck? Young men who want to fight in order to prove themselves aren't too keen about serving under a bunch of fucking trannies. While that maybe Dazzler and Mello's dream job that's not what most young males who aren't pole smokers are into.
That’s pretty hard to message out on a recruiting presentation at the local HS r community college.
It may not even be offset by the commitment to be inclusive to transgenders.
HH care to take a stab at that one? -

Want soldiers? Pay ‘em.
GI Bill still pays for college, and these days that’s a lot of money, tax free. Two years active duty gets 80% of all tuition handled by Uncle Sam. That’s pretty damn good.
MS is a good deal, provided you aren’t being sent to a place like Iraq, Ukraine or Afghanistan to fight in some war for corrupt politicians and their defense contractor donor base.
Whining about “wokeness” is still just whining.
Do you have data points that suggest this recent cultural policy pivot has been a net positive for enrollment?
Are you telling me we’d be even worse off with military recruitment if we didn’t have transgender awareness week as part of basic training?
Or are you just saying that, given the current job market, a two year salaried commitment to active duty that gets the vast majority of your college tuition paid for just isn’t good enough for the kids these days, and we need to re-think what we comp our recruits.
Because while I’m willing to entertain a discussion on the latter, the former is fucking stupid.
A kid can go to work at Dicks and get some tuition assistance. He can also quit instantly in favor of a better job.
When the civilian opportunities are there, or perceived to be, military recruitment will struggle. When civilian opportunities are few, sitting through some lecture on inclusiveness just isn’t a big deal. You just sleep with your eyes open and wait it out.
And that’s not to ignore the fact that your civilian employer may also have some woke nonsense for you to pretend to care about.
No two year commitment to work at Dicks. You’re still free to explore your civilian opportunities.
You girls were for low unemployment before you were against it.
If I’m 18, a two year run with the army before having my college essentially paid for sounds better than working at Dicks, even with the market freedom to go get a job at McDonald’s if I decide I don’t like re-stocking soccer cleats.
Oh wait it sounds like McDonald’s isn’t hiring right now…..
Also I’m not a girl, HH.

Credit card debt is at an all time high. People are getting hammered by inflation and are using their CC to pay for household bills and expenses they can't afford. That unemployment number is pure crap. You have the highest percentage of working age males ever recorded not even participating in the workforce.46XiJCAB said:

'The most chilling metric of all': Mike Rowe warns that 7 million American men are 'done' looking for work and have 'punched out' — why that's a serious problem

None of those people are counted as unemployed. -
If you are no longer eligible to collect unemployment you are no longer unemployed
According to experts and scientists -
The UE has been a farce for decades.
It’s only a poll of like 50,000 households chosen at random by the labor bureau to calculate for a country of 330MM people, 60% of which are of working age.
If they wanted to know the real number, they would need to run SSNs for everyone between the ages of 18-64 and count those with a current W-2 as employed and then weigh that against the BLS poll.
That’s something todays computers can do in 10 seconds but we still calculate the data as though it’s the 1940s -

Both of those metrics tend to paint a rosier picture of the labor market because they fail to include people who have dropped out of the labor market altogether. U-3 fails to even include those forced into part-time work.HHusky said:
