Tech layoffs

I’m reading about all of the tech layoffs and the personal sob stories and how unfair it all is. Google employees in particular.
Funny but I don’t recall the same amount of handwringing and sob stories when Biden told 1000’s of blue collar XL Pipeline employees to hit the bricks.
I’m having a hard time feeling for the spoiled techies. I’m a bad person.

It's 10x the number for tech... but what they don't say is that the big tech companies increased employment massively in the last couple of years too. https://layoffs.fyi

In all seriousness, I don't want ANY American who wants to work to struggle to find a job, or be laid off. I don't care what your political bent is, we are ALL better at max employment. I mean sure, I do find it mildly humorous that a bunch of tech bros voted themselves out of a job, but these massive layoffs aren't good for the country.
All part of the plan I guess in the Biden economy? Remember when they told pipefitters and coal miners to learn to code? Well all the coders are out of work now as well. So scratch that. Guess the only growth areas of this economy are Diversity hires and Green Energy companies. Everyone else is soon to be out of work. But best economy of my lifetime Jean Pierre assures me!!!!! -
Smart tech bros are some of the dumbest business people on the planet. Watch virtually every episode of Shark Tank - MIT, Stanford MBAs get slaughtered by the Sharks for being greedy, short sighted bastards with overinflated egos relative to their contribution to society simply because they can slam standardized tests.

No street smarts. Fuck them. Enjoy the bread line.
The Throbber has a lot of @haie in his life for tech bros.

There's a sayin for when you get laid off
"I was lookin for a job when I found this one"
Unfortunately due to the border situation all these no skilled tech workers cant even compete for an agricultural job and the weed market is already flooded with lazy stoners trimming bud. -

Hold tight is the rallying cry cause Joey Bro has literally MILLIONS of green energy jobs on the way. He just needs to allow his minions to completely destroy our energy sector and country first.Swaye said:In all seriousness, I don't want ANY American who wants to work to struggle to find a job, or be laid off. Yeah, buying chicom solar panels is great for the US economy. Solar and wind power are much more expensive that natural gas generated electricity. More expensive means less efficient which means less actual overall production. Taking away money from US electric consumer to send to the chicoms is something only the dazzler with his mythical MBA could think was good for America.46XiJCAB said:

The hiring was nuts and I think in tech number of employed is still higher than like 2020. I do like though when unemployment is super low because I find it slightly amusing to hear everyone bitch about how hard it is to find people.
Like no, it's just hard to find people at the shitty wage you want to pay -

No you're not. 97% of them voted for this shit and when the real shit hits, whether it's this year or 250 from now, these same dipshits will be the first on the trains.AOG said:It's 10x the number for tech... but what they don't say is that the big tech companies increased employment massively in the last couple of years too. https://layoffs.fyi

I heard if you voted for Trump and his energy independence agenda it was too bad for you when Joey was installed and you lost your job in a dying industry.

during Covid Amazon doubled its employment, Meta by 94%, Google 57%, MSFT 53% (WSJ, look it up).... Apple only 20% it is no wonder there have been layoffs given inflation/warPitchfork51 said:The hiring was nuts and I think in tech number of employed is still higher than like 2020. In my experience it was a lot easier to get rid of those people so I didn't have as much of a problem. Especially junior devs. Your performance is easily trackable.PurpleThrobber said:Smart tech bros are some of the dumbest business people on the planet. The people who pretty much made my blood boil on a regular basis were the retards who leeched off of what we built and were, and as far as I understand still are, glorified order takers. If you're supposed to sell, sell and I can respect that. If you're doing market research, give me some fucking workflows and customer stories. If you're SE/Imp, don't just flip a pile of shit situation at the engineers with little/no information present.
Just sitting around being a leeching fag because you are friends/family with the owner, basically it got to a point where they were told to stay the fuck away from me. -
My outside view of it has been that the big tech players were paying ridiculous amounts of money for relatively routine talent because of labor shortage and the thought that they could continue scaling for ever increasing cash flow, and that's the hubris.haie said:

Real tech money, to me anyway, belongs in the entrepreneur class. Real tech is pushing the boundaries and creating new shit, and THOSE guys are the ones who ought to be paid. Same as ever: big risk, big reward. Rank-in-file engineers making 7 figures is not a sustainable model.
Or whatever. -
