CypressI’ll throw out a vote for Cypress Island. Most of it is state owned.
Orcas number two with Eastsound, Moran State Park, Mt. Constitution.
San Juan is great with Friday Harbor, Roche Harbor, the National Historical Park, and Limekiln State Park.
Fidalgo is great too with Anacortes, Mt. Erie, Deception Pass, and across bridge and channel from La Conner. -

Why is Orcas so special?

I liked it when I went there but I don’t think it was special. A friend had a house on the north side of the island and in the winter you could see the ski slopes at whistler at night. Beyond that, it has some cool views/scenery but you could see most of the same on other islands in the sound.Doogles said:Why is Orcas so special?

I used to go up to Neah Bay all the time. One of my best friends (RIP) and his family are from there they own a hunk of land at the mouth of the Sooes River. We used to go there all the time and climb up on Strawberry Rock which is an island during high tide. We have got stuck out there and waded/swam back. Beautiful, no people at all
They owned the land from the bridge north

WhidbeyIt has the best state park, it has some of the most accessible views of the sound. It still has fucking cannons, and fucking jets. Fort Casey and Fort Ebey are great.

The Secret Service used to have survivalist training on Whidbey. I have no idea if they still do. When I lived in Edmonds I could look out my window and see the southern end of the island. Fidalgo gets my second vote for the same reason. That and Mr. Erie has fantastic views.

Love Whidbey and Vashon has a special place in my heart as a West Seattle kid. Also shoutout to Mercer for giving us @allpurpleallgold. But the choice has to be one of the San Juans and I figured everyone else would go with San Juan itself so I went with Orcas to be different.

OrcasOrcas. I went to Orkilla two summers and some cabins near there most summers. I haven't been since the 90s. I don't know if it's changed.
