Travels With Mabel

Well Mabel is camped out in the Wild West Texas area that unfortunately smells like oil fields should smell like.
Odessa is not an RV destination location that will EVER be featured on the TravelUSA network. We spent a week in Tyler taking care of license renewals, stopped in Cisco for two nights making a trip to the ER with an UTI.
Have to eat two types of horse tablets a day, can finally pee without too much pain. Got to Odessa and after getting all set up, went to sit down and reaggrevated my knee. MrsIamnotinLebam is loving it - standard morning question "What hurts more, your right knee, left knee or weenie?"
so no pics, it is fucking cold in west Texas, it stinks, but we are having Thanksgiving with good family. Why they live here I will never know.
Edit: Your right @MikeDamone - @swaye hijacked the thread reliving his past after reflecting on his stationary trailer life. A trailer with a cigar storage basement tough -

You left of the part on when you dipped down to Mexico, telling Mrs Lebam where going for supplies, and caught at UTI.LebamDawg said:Well Mabel is camped out in the Wild West Texas area that unfortunately smells like oil fields should smell like.

Well here I am in Pipe Creek, Tx paying a whopping $375 a month for lodging this beast of an RV. Pulled in here and instantly threw my damn knee out. Good news the Missus learned how to hook up the trailer real fast. Did not even shout FU at me once.
This place has deer feeders out and a herd of deer was running all over playing around - will capture some photos of those soon -

Full moon over Pipe Creek, TX
and if you look closely I think that might be yer anus
will have to check to verify
It is called a Cold Moon and that was probably Mars
Jupiter, Saturn and Mars will also be visible in the night sky Wednesday, with an extraordinarily rare phenomenon, known as a lunar occultation of Mars, set to happen around the moon’s peak fullness
-
In an interesting corollary, I call max boner "peak fullness."LebamDawg said:Full moon over Pipe Creek, TX

Do not turn Travels With Mabel into a typical thread that always ends up about boners.
and here is a new beer I ran across - Real Ale Brewing in Blanco, Tx
I think a 6 pack of these puppies would be my limit

You went down the boner thread path back before page 6

A 6-pack of that leaves most men unconscious.LebamDawg said:Do not turn Travels With Mabel into a typical thread that always ends up about boners.

During COVID, that was at least twice per week for me (4-pack of 12% pints, so about the same).BleachedAnusDawg said:

Did…did I just read 15 pages of another man’s RV diary on a Saturday morning? Jesus Christ!
Favorite parts were Throbber checking in on Mabel every 2 pages, Swayes summer parties, and the reinforcement that I was right and RVs are hellholes.
Great thread Lebam! -
Frigid weather on the way in Texas - hits tomorrow but I am prepped and ready. Another good brew to keep me warm
This one was smooth as could be - not heavy at all
had a herd of deer right behind my truck the other day - not sure who jumped higher - me or the deer. They charged out of the area but a couple of them decided to stop and stare, and eat. The rest of the herd was off behind some fencing and trees.

I loved growing up in Texas. Whitetail season is a religious experience. And brisket.

sunset in Pipe Creek, TX last night
and sunrise today

Haven't seen any deer lately - methinks it is deer season with all the shots ringing out around here. Neighbor farm dropped some goats - too far to see but the little guys are loud. Before I sold the farm the only time our goats made noise was when they got isolated from the group - used to have to go lead the screaming goat down to the field where the rest were doing goat stuff.
Me and the Mrs started reminiscing about our crazy goats.
They used to play king (or queen) of the hill on that little mound - wish I could have burned the neighbors house down - was easier to sell. Tried to upload a short video of them but the file be too large and I am too lazy to compress it. Last month in Texas will soon be rambling on to Arizona to see a kid and soon to be daughter-in-law.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WO1PGuN6bE

Full moon over Texas tonight
This full moon is from Miami I think
-
Any sign of Chinese spy balloons?
-
On the road again - heading west - Fort Stockton, Texas
The sun is set, the sun is riz, and I ain't outa Texas yet.
the wide open spaces of west central Texas - off in the distance the Mrs. says "that looks like a pyramid" I say "I looks like a nipple" - quiet ride after that...
Downtown Fort Stockton - Texans love their Texas flags
damn good Mexican food in FS, TX -
Rolling down the road with the big rigs
Took exit "0" for the new temp location - on the edge of a desert but in west Texas what isn't. Looking at the mountains of southern New Mexico from as far west as one can be in Texas
Actually the drive going just north of Big Bend and the mountains of West Texas was rather nice. I just can't haul the big trailer at 80mph, so we got passed quite a bit
-
I have renamed El Paso to El Windo, El Dusto, or maybe El Pitso
Today is low 60's with wind gusts to 66 MPH - here is a picture looking at the southern NM mountains close to the picture right above
I think we are in the middle of a dust/sand/grit storm - could be worse, could be snowing -
@LebamDawg I always appreciate your updates, thank you
-
That's not country, for old man goat herders, Mabel.LebamDawg said:I have renamed El Paso to El Windo, El Dusto, or maybe El Pitso

Watch out for @PostGameOrangeSlices. Don't let that guy into the trailer.

I know what is worse than West Texas - East Arizona - we are about 20 miles east of Willcox. Bowie, AZ truly the middle of nowhere.
This morning we got hit with the storm that killed LA with snow. We had hail, rain, snow and wind and then more wind. 50 mph gusts. No damage but there is still beauty in the desert
Sunset the night before the storm

I love Arizona and am fascinated by it. On my bucket list is to go Navajo country and just wander around for a few days.LebamDawg said:I know what is worse than West Texas - East Arizona - we are about 20 miles east of Willcox. Bowie, AZ truly the middle of nowhere.

I was in Tuba City on the Navajo Nation reservation a year ago - they were still enforcing only 3 people in a store still. Edit: and enforcing strict mask wearing. I had full 5 bar phone reception but the natives seemed to block internet connections. Talked to a few other people that were mystified by this also. I had t-mobile at the time and they had Verizon. We left 3 days early to go up to another Indian reservation and had no problems with internet.DerekJohnson said:
