He also doesn't throw off his back foot too much. There are some long highlight reels out there showing him step up and into throws. The long td to Polk at Autzen is a good example. The progressions critique is odd. He manipulated safeties and lb’s more with his eyes than any qb I watched play this year. Reading their movement and throwing to the correct man.FireTheJanitor said:
I follow the NFL draft somewhat closely and Penix is at best a 3rd Rd. Pick this year and that’s if a team falls in love and reaches. Everything I’ve read is more concerned with his ability to run the LOS in the NFL, get through progressions, etc. Not saying he’ll be back, don’t twist, but he’s not a hot commodity at the next level. The pre snap direction is basically what I was getting at with “progressions.” It comes up in any scouting report, fair or not. How will he do outside of the DeBoer/Grubb scheme? The chances he’s had without them leave a lot to be desired.AtomicDawg said:
