Anyone got a reason for this? Is it the lack of TUFF lumberjack liberals? Seems to mirror UW's slow decline as a football program.

Rypien didn't go to Shorecrest.
-
And in the last 50 years Oregon has Justin Herbert and Kellen Clemens. Woe.
-
Logger tough liberals moved to Idaho

Bellevue’s run with the wing T probably popularized run heavy offenses for a generation.

The state — especially west of the mountains — stopped caring about high school football many years ago.
-
I'd add Matt Tuiasosopo, Jacob Eason and Dylan Morris to the list.
-
Kellen Moore was out of Prosser

Skyline was a massive producer of overrated HS players. During their run a few years back, they sent a lot of kids to the next level. Can't think of one that was really successful.theknowledge said:What is wrong with this state and its lack of viable QB's for the last 20+ years? From 1975-2000 the state of Washington had 16 quarterbacks that I can think of that played snaps in the NFL. Probably more that played at other colleges and played well. From 2000-2022 it has produced 3 that have thrown a pass. It hasn't even produced decent college QB's outside of those guys. Has the population not boomed the last 20 years? Isn't paying for expensive QB coaches all the rage? My god. (I had to look up where some of these dudes went to HS.)

You are correct. Even in regards to Kasen Williams, that was a mixed bag. I wonder how Kasen W would have done under a different coaching staff. Hard to say.creepycoug said:

I think injuries are what prevented Kasen from being super successful.

Durocher didn’t go to spanaway Lake. How absolutely dare you

I am flawed, obviously. That’s why I lurk here. So I can be put straight by people who don’t bag groceries and stack corn for a living.JaWarrenJaHooker said:Durocher didn’t go to spanaway Lake. How absolutely dare you

For real though, what the heck happened? That 1975-2000 list blows the 2000-2022 one away. And there aren't even any "stories yet to be written" out of the newer group, other than maybe Huard.
The Gen Xers have a SB MVP, SB loser, #1 overall pick with tons of passing yards, and a bunch of low end NFL starters or career backups.
The millennials have... a QB who should have played safety. -
Our next hopes are Huard and EJ Caminong.

Correct answer is: off top no google like Pumptheknowledge said:

Is it just QBs? I wouldn’t be surprised if every other position was the same if not worse.

I feel like the state of Washington has done a fairly good job of supporting offensive lineman for Wazzu, UW and sadly, Oregon and Stanford the last fifteen years.WoolleyDoog said:Is it just QBs? I wouldn’t be surprised if every other position was the same if not worse.
