“The Georgia game and score don’t matter”

Oregon preseason ranking: 11
Oregon ranking four weeks later: 12
Some of you are new to this whole college football thing so you get a pass but some of you screeching old timers need to learn the game.
I’ll take your apologies below
Thanks

Imagine flexing the first week of OCTOBER after being the beneficiary of this. A new low for @MikeSeaver -
Oregon didn't want to be top 4 for winning anyway
-
Stanford was the beneficiary on this play. They recovered the “fumble” and had a 2nd and 8 instead of 2nd and 10. Yeah but stillBaseman said:

The argument was that the score didn’t matter.RaceBannon said:Oregon didn't want to be top 4 for winning anyway
Sounds like you still want to make the argument that it mattered though.

Really doesn't matter -
A preseason scrimmage with a powerhouse can only help you, not hurt. I've said so many times and posted on here that all Oregon needed to get on track was a proper demolition of EWU, which they got.
Quook controls their own destiny even as far as playoffs go imo. Win out and nobody will gaf about week one. -

Blow out means no playoffs
I'm right. Mike is wrong

I should say "forgotten and/or dismissed/excused history." I'm not saying it's right or wrong, only that it's what happens. -

Try it next time. You won’t believe it. -
Bama, UGA and tOSU are already in. The next tallest midget gets in and many hats will be on the table. No PAC-12 will have a hat. The top-5 will have a least 2 loses each.

In general yes. But it's massive tie break losschuck said:

But you're right too Chuck
Only Mike is wrong -
Losing 49-3 matters no matter how you slice it.

Oregon winning out would be an impressive run. That means wins over UW and UCLA who will both be fringe top 25, Utah who could be higher than that, and a high ranked SC in the title game. There aren't 4 other contending teams who will win out, and Oregon's resume would be solid.
It's hyperbole to say it doesn't matter, but isn't that far from the truth if that played out as I said.
Chip's first game at UO was an embarrassment on the road. That could've been worse had it been someone like Georgia rather than a buttoned down Petersen team with limited talent. They went on to erase that one though. -
Still a lot of time left for a lot of power 5 teams to get 2 losses. But that's really Oregon's only hope. Even with the loss, they would get in over a one loss Cincy or any other 1 loss group of 5 team. They can't have more than 3 power 5 schools to have fewer than 2 losses (Unless it's USC, which Oregon would need to beat in the conference championship)RaceBannon said:

Lol Oregon isn’t going to the playoffs.
Gimme a rose bowl against Penn St or Michigan and let’s roll. -

Whoregon won't sniff a playoff. 3 or 4 losses for sure
-
It matters because winners win and losers play “well if this or that happens” .
It doesn’t matter because Oregon ain’t going to the playoffs and probs shouldn’t want to be there really. Chatch is right: in a year like this, go get a Rose or other New Years Bowl and let someone else get bent over by late season form Bama or Georgia. Or Buck. Wouldn’t turn my back on Clemson either. DJ Ukulele becoming who we thought he’d be; though I wouldn’t crown their ass just yet.

Husky’s lost to the only team they’ve played with a pulse. Doesn’t bode well for Peterman’s recruits.Fire_Marshall_Bill said:Whoregon won't sniff a playoff. 3 or 4 losses for sure

Whats with all the responses stating that Oregon won't go to the playoffs because they'll lose. Jfc that's not the point.

I come to DR for completely different reasons than those guys do. You keep lumping me with them but you have no basis for it.dtd said:It mattered and now it doesn't. Quooks gonna quooks. Bill Haie Chuck gonna Doog.

If Oregon were to win out, the Georgia score wouldn't matter. They'd most likely be in the playoffs or at least in the conversation.
Oregon won't win out, so that makes you correct, but thats still not what was being debated. -
Possibly the worst post I’ve ever read @MikeSeaver
