This is Ted Kennedy's legacy - the dems won't attempt to change immigration, will not work with the Repubs to do anything. The Republicans are fine with that also.

The border is another one of those issues where there really is a majority consensus on the issue. Most people want a secure border and some kind of orderly immigration process. We can quibble about the number of immigrants we allow in each year.
