The non-trinitarian/trinitarian divide was bitter and bloody well into the 4th Century CE. Then Unitarianism arose again in the 1500s as scholars began translating the Bible into local languages and noted a lack of Biblical support for the idea of the Trinity.
The whole debate arises out of translations of translations of translations. Christians have killed each other over less. -
