Just need more common sense gun laws.

Smiley Martin is the brother of 26-year-old Dandrae Martin, the first suspect police announced they had arrested in connection to Sunday’s shooting.
Court documents show that Smiley Martin was in prison to serve a 10-year sentence for several previous felony convictions, but was released from custody early in 2021.
The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office tried to argue against Smiley’s release, saying in a letter to the parole board that he had “little regard for human life and the law.”
“He has no respect for others, for law enforcement or for the law. If he is released early, he will continue to break the law,” Deputy District Attorney Danielle Abilgaard wrote in a letter dated April 29, 2021.
Dandrae Martin had served time in Riverside County in 2014 for domestic violence and also served time in Arizona for aggravated assault and domestic violence in two separate cases in 2016 and 2018. He was also found guilty of violating his parole in 2019.

There should have been a law in place to prohibit Smiley Martin from possessing a gun.

I guarantee you that each of these scumbags has at least one, most likely two or three kids they don't pay a dime to support. Kobe calls that "progress" and "freedom" and blames poor sex education in the schools. -
So democrats caused this. Who'd have guessed!

He was sentenced to 10 years in 2018 for for domestic violence and assault with great bodily injury
This is all the Dims fault and it needs widespread coverage. They sowed violence and released violent criminals to cause chaos to push their agenda. Disgusting. 85% of the MSM will never hold them accountable or report on this. -
Seems like a war on women. Apparently, women and black lives don't matter. Geezus.

Smiley’s adult criminal history begins just a six months after he turned 18. In January 2013 he was in possession of an assault rifle and two loaded 25-round magazines and admitted to “transporting the assault weapon and large capacity magazines to potential buyers” and was sentenced to probation and county jail. (Who knows if there’s a juvenile history here too, which wouldn’t be surprising given the charges he caught shortly after becoming an “adult.”) [Uh, we know]
Then around Thanksgiving that year he was arrested after a string of robberies at local Target and Wal-Mart stores in which thousands of dollars worth of electronics were stolen and sentenced to two years in prison. In 2016, once out and on parole, a car he was riding in was stopped, and when officers told him he was going to be detained he gave them a fake name and fled on foot. Once he was Tased, officers realized he was a parolee at large.
The crime that led to the 10-year prison sentence occurred in the spring of 2017. Details about that crime, in which he forced his way into his girlfriend’s home before brutally assaulting her, were provided to the Parole Board by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office in the April 2021 letter:
“He located her hiding in her bedroom closet and hit her repeatedly with a closed fist on the face, head, and body, causing visible injuries,” the letter says. “He then dragged her out of the home by her hair to an awaiting car. After he put her in the car, he assaulted her with a belt.
“During the investigation, information was gathered that the victim had been working as a prostitute and that Inmate Martin had been assisting and encouraging her to be a prostitute. Text messages and social media conversations revealed that he would tell her what kind of sex buyer she should date, how much money to charge, how to accept payment, and what forms of payment she should accept.”

White racism made him do it. Just ask Kobe.

You and I are just examples of systemic white institutional racism for just posting this. The left desperately wants an honest conversation about race as long as race is not involved.SFGbob said:White racism made him do it. Just ask Kobe.

This guy has been a violent criminal his entire adult life. There's no doubt he was also a violent teenager but those records are sealed. Arresting this piece of shit and putting him in jail for a long time would have saved society a lot of grief and made our communities safer and the quality of life better.

Systemic white racism was the reason this guy was in jail in the first place, that's why he and tens of thousands of others just like him have been let out of prison. But hey, that has nothing to do with the exploding crime rates.WestlinnDuck said:

I think the GOP needs to get of the gun nut thing and try to win some women's votes this fall
No one likes the toxic masculinity of the gun nut culture. Kids are dying. Schools are shot up

Update

The mass killing that left six people dead and 12 wounded outside bars just blocks from California’s Capitol last weekend was a gunfight involving at least five shooters from rival gangs, Sacramento police said Wednesday.
Police said they identified at least five gunmen but there may have been more. Only two suspects — both brothers wounded by gunfire — have been arrested in connection with the shooting and, so far, only face firearms charges.
“We're still working through ... who the actual shooters are in the case,” Sgt. Zach Eaton said.
We can probably clear the guns of any wrongdoing -
They have identified two of the dead as active gang members they are still checking on some of the others. The entire narrative that Gavin and Joe were pushing was all bullshit. This had everything to do with Gavin's soft on crime policies and no amount of additional gun laws would have prevented it.RaceBannon said:Update

Not when leftists are in charge. It’s definitely a gun issue. The only way these things aren’t gun issues is if committed by a white male. Them racism, white nationalists and domestic terrorism. You know, our greatest national security threats.RaceBannon said:Update

That's on my criminal reform wish list. Once upon a time, shielding "juveniles" from having a public arrest record may have made sense. But if the arrest now is for a felony, then if you are old enough to commit a felony, then you are old enough to have the public actually know what is going on.SFGbob said:

Odd how Obama never rhapsodizes about how if he had a son he'd have looked like Smiley, or George Floyd on any of the hundreds of blacks guy who are caught on film beating up Jews and Asians.
-
Anyone with any familiarity on how our criminal justice systems work knows that these animals often commit dozens and dozens of crimes for which they are never arrested and therefore never prosecuted. We know about the cases where they were actually arrested and prosecuted. It's almost a certainty that this asshole has committed hundreds of crimes since his teenage years.WestlinnDuck said:

This is what drives me nuts, we know for the most part who the bad guys are, arresting people like this and keeping them in jail for the maximum is how you reduce crime rates. Also, this guy already had gun violations on his record. Instead of getting rid of gun enhancements, which Newsom and the left have been pushing, we should be increasing them. Any use of gun in the commission of any crime should get nothing less than 10 years. You want to get serious about "gun violence" that's what we would be doing but the left isn't serious, they only want to take away guns from you and me, not criminals. -
It won't matter what the facts are. Newsom and his base will run with the narrative.

La;i emptied the prisons onto the streets. This is what you get when the commies run a state.
